Reporting to the Chief Operating Engineer, the production supervisor with the 2nd Class TSSA Ticket works in conjunction with other plant departments to facilitate ongoing projects and plant improvements. This role also oversees training programs, and ensures ongoing compliance with TSSA certification.ResponsibilitiesSupervise and participate in the operation and maintenance of chemical processing equipmentEnsure safe work practices and compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and TSSA regulationReview, interpret and evaluate process performance data and implement any changes to maintain optimum performance of all process areasRecord and trouble shoot process deviations in order to return and maintain peak plant efficiencyDeliver and enforce daily/weekly/monthly department objectives and communicate them to personnelPrepare for and coordinate internal and external inspections and audits (TSSA, ESA, etc.)Ensure proper documentation and reporting of plant performance, maintenance, and compliance records.Develop and maintain a training program for Operating Engineers, including onboarding and upgrade training.Conduct technical and procedural training sessions in alignment with SOPEEC guidelines.Track certification status and ongoing training requirements of plant personnel.Generate compliance reports and support internal audits.Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities, communicating schedules and outlining dutiesMonitor the work of employees, provide feedback, and perform coaching or counselingPrepare and submit daily reports on production, individuals, and overall shift performanceTrain new employees on how to safely use equipment and accurately follow proceduresMaintain focus on continuous improvement through effective leadershipSolve problems as they occur in a reliable wayQualificationsValid 2nd Class Operating Engineer Certificate issued by TSSA (Ontario) - is a must haveMinimum 57 years of progressive experience in power plant or utility operations; previous experience in a training or supervisory capacity is an assetMinimum two years of experience in a supervisory role with as many as six direct reports per shiftStrong understanding of TSSA, CSA, OHSA, and applicable codes and standardsExcellent communication, leadership, and organizational skillsProficiency in using plant control systems, DCS
