Summit Search Group has been retained by Sakku Investments Corporation (Sakku) on the recruitment of their next CEO, Sakku Mining. Sakku Investments is the Development Corporation of the Kivalliq Inuit Association (KIA). Under the Nunavut Agreement, KIA is a designated Inuit organization representing the interests of all Inuit living in the Kivalliq Region. Sakku serves as KIAs business arm and is deemed an Inuit Birthright Corporation. Sakkus mandate is to build sustainable wealth for Inuit through strategic partnerships, economic development, and capacity building across the Kivalliq Region. Sakku Mining Inc. is a 100% owned subsidiary of Sakku Investments Corporation and leads the corporations strategic mining pillar. Reporting to the President & CEO of Sakku Investments, the CEO of Sakku Mining will drive the organizations leadership and growth in the resource development sector, focusing on building longterm, profitable, and sustainable opportunities for Inuit. Position Overview This position represents both a commercial leadership role and an advocacy role for responsible resource development, with a focus on collaboration, capacity building, and lifeofmine partnerships. The CEO will engage directly with industry partners, government bodies, and Inuit organizations to advance Sakkus presence in the mining sector while ensuring alignment with Inuit values, economic interests, and community aspirations. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership and Operations - Establish Sakku Mining as the corporations dedicated platform for mining sector engagement and development. - Lead the implementation of a longterm mining strategy promoting Inuit ownership, employment, and participation in the resource economy. - Oversee all operational, financial, and partnership activities of Sakku Mining and its subsidiaries. - Analyze and report on project progress, business performance, and strategic initiatives to Sakkus executive team and Board. Business Development and Partnerships - Build and strengthen relationships with mine operators in the Kivalliq region, such as Agnico Eagle Mines (AEM) and other key partners. - Identify and pursue longterm contracts, joint ventures, and lifeofmine service opportunities. - Ensure business initiatives deliver sustainable value and align with Sakkus economic and cultural priorities. - Support workforce negotiations and alignment with government and Inuit organizational initiatives to advance Sakkus overall mining strategy. Inuit Capacity Building - Develop shareholder policies and programs focused on Inuit employment, training, and advancement within Sakkus mining operations. - Collaborate with Sakkus Training & Development Division to strengthen apprenticeship and employment pathways for Inuit. - Build internal capacity in contract oversight, procurement, and service delivery aligned with training and employment goals. Stakeholder and Public Engagement - Represent Sakku Mining publicly at industry events, trade shows, and public hearings, communicating Sakkus commitment to responsible mining and sustainable development. - Advocate for the benefits of mineral development within the Kivalliq region while promoting alignment with Inuit values and interests. - Maintain open communication with community, industry, and government partners to foster trust and transparency. Governance and Reporting - Provide regular updates to the Sakku Board of Directors on performance against strategic and operational objectives. - Ensure compliance with all applicable agreements, including Kivalliq IIBAs (Inuit Impact and Benefit Agreements). - Lead a highperforming team aligned with Sakkus mission, culture, and corporate priorities. Qualifications Education and Experience - Bachelors degree in Business, Mining Management, Indigenous Governance, or a related field; a Masters degree is an asset. - Minimum of 5 years of executive or senior leadership experience in mining, infrastructure, Indigenous economic development, or related sectors. - Proven experience working with or within Indigenous organizations, particularly in the North. - Experience managing strategic partnerships and longterm contracts; familiarity with mining operations in Nunavut is highly valued. Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes - Deep understanding of mining operations, business development, and northern economic frameworks. - Strong grasp of Inuit governance, cultural practices, and community engagement. - Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, and relationshipbuilding skills. - Demonstrated ability to act as a bridge between industry and community. - Competence in financial analysis, planning, and proposal development. - Proficiency in standard business software and digital collaboration tools.
