This challenging and rewarding role, reporting to the Senior Manager of Workforce Support and Logistics, involves overseeing the planning, management, procurement, contracts, and delivery of essential logistics, fleet, and facility services for EFRS. You'll be instrumental in providing strategic planning and support for supply chain management, contract management, and procurement strategies. What will you do? - Lead and mentor a team of up to 6-8 direct reports (including the Captain of Logistics, Project Managers, and Technicians) to foster an engaged, efficient, and high-performing culture - Complete performance evaluations, provide coaching, counselling, and feedback, and approve work schedules, vacation requests, and overtime - Guide the unit's work, ensuring all processes and practices reflect the City's Cultural Commitments and EFRS' Core Values - Act as the EFRS representative for all fleet specifications and procurement activities, working closely with Fleet Procurement and Fleet Maintenance Services - Oversee the design, adapting, and specification preparation for all new equipment and fire apparatus - Monitor and track performance on EFRS fleet operating and capital budget planning and spending - Ensure EFRS compliance with all fleet driver operation manual policies and legislated requirements for the transportation and handling of dangerous goods - Coordinate and manage required maintenance and repairs for all Fire Stations and EFRS facilities with Facilities Maintenance - Lead the EFRS project management and procurement team in supporting facility needs and requirements - Support the construction and renovation phases of new and existing fire stations, ensuring alignment with Integrated Infrastructure Services - Lead the EFRS Logistics team in maintaining a robust supply chain to support 24/7 EFRS operations - Work closely with Corporate Procurement on RFP (Request for Proposal), procurement activities, and contract management for equipment, uniforms, and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) - Actively work with vendors and suppliers on continuous improvement and ensure contract obligations are met, providing a high level of customer service - Actively pursue modern supply chain and procurement practices and research new technology in fleet, equipment, and uniforms - Maintain currency in changing legislative standards that impact OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) safety for fleet, facilities, and PPE - Develop, recommend, and implement a strong customer experience and continuous improvement culture - Other duties as assigned Qualifications - Completion of Grade 12 - 15+ years of Fire Rescue experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory capacity - Minimum Captain Qualified requirement Assets - Degree or Diploma in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Accounting, Facility Maintenance trades, Heavy Mechanics, or related programs Skills required for success - Comprehensive knowledge of modern fire service principles, practices, equipment, and relevant standards/regulations - Thorough understanding of logistics, supply chain management, fleet services, procurement, contract management, and facility maintenance in the context of fire service operations - Exceptional leadership and supervisory skills, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management - Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills for collaboration with internal and external parties, including vendors, suppliers, other municipal fire departments, and Community partners - Ability to think strategically, analyze complex issues, and drive continuous improvement and innovate processes - Ability to lead, motivate, and build high-performing teams, while fostering a professional and collaborative work environment - Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies ( https://bit.ly/4brRrXm ) - Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation, and inclusion Conditions of Employment - Compliance with the City of Edmontons safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as wearing steel-toe boots, gloves, goggles, sunscreen and coveralls - Hire is dependent on Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton, and there may be a cost associated with this requirement - Candidates are required to hold a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent) or higher.
