Reporting directly to the VP - National Auto Claims, the incumbent is accountable for providing direction and support for Economical Insurance auto claims operations on a national basis excluding the province of Quebec. You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our claims organization, coleading its ongoing transformation and ensuring alignment with the Definitys broader strategic objectives. This is a highly visible role requiring a strong leader with proven success in claims management and operational excellence. What can you expect in this role? - Strategic Leadership & Planning: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute national auto claims strategies and action plans aligned with corporate goals. This includes contributing to the development of a comprehensive claims strategic plan and leading the creation and implementation of operational plans for all teams under your remit. - Operational Excellence: Lead and mentor a team of direct reports, providing coaching, performance management, and professional development opportunities to maximize efficiency and deliver exceptional customer service. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and identify areas for improvement. - Financial Management: Develop and manage accurate and detailed budgets for the assigned teams, monitoring expenditures and ensuring alignment with financial controls. Analyze financial data to identify trends, assess risks, and inform strategic decisionmaking. - Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure consistent implementation and adherence to all corporate claims policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Oversee the implementation and management of vendor programs, ensuring compliance with corporate guidelines. - Stakeholder Management: Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including brokers, internal partners, and senior management. Represent the Claims division at broker council meetings and provide regular updates to the VP, National Auto Claims, and SVP, Claims. - Transformation Leadership: Actively participate in and colead the ongoing transformation of the claims organization, driving innovation and process improvements to enhance efficiency, customer satisfaction, and operational effectiveness. What do you bring to the role? - Bachelors degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Insurance) or a twoyear diploma from a recognized community college, or equivalent experience. Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) designation is a strong asset. - Minimum 7 years of claims experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, demonstrating progressive responsibility and a track record of success in managing teams and achieving operational goals. Experience in a multiline insurance organization is highly preferred. Experience with litigation and integration is considered a strong asset. Proven ability to lead, coach, develop, mentor, and retain highperforming teams. Experience with performance management systems and techniques is essential. - Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, with the ability to think strategically and translate macrolevel insights into actionable plans. Experience with data analysis and reporting is highly valued. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including senior management, brokers, and claims staff. - Highly motivated, resultsoriented individual with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment. - A passion for driving change, embracing innovation, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement. Salary range is $101,000 - $186,000 Actual salary for the role may vary depending on work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, working conditions and the local labour market.
