Job Description A unique local Edmonton commercial snow removal company is looking to hire 1-2 individuals for the winter season. Lighter days would include clearing sidewalks for commercial sites with mini bobcat, sweepers, snow blowers, shovels etc On larger snow removal days experience operating a skid steer would be considered an asset. We generally meet at the shop location which is 5 minutes from Sherwood Park heading east. Crew Member: Requirements: Warm winter gear including safety boots, gloves, jacket, toque etc. Take direction from the crew leader as required. Ability to operate sidewalk snow removal equipment such as snow blowers, walk behind sweepers, backpack blowers, shovels, ice scrapers and salt. Reliable transportation to shop and being on time Drivers license (considered an asset) Basic mechanical knowledge (considered an asset) Responsibilities: Using snow removal equipment such as: Snow Blowers, Sweepers, Shovels, Scrapers and Salt. Care of sidewalk equipment to ensure proper operation Taking direction from the crew leader to ensure work is completed properly and safely Reporting any hazards to the crew leader Directing any questions or concerns on site from anyone to the crew leader Work Hours: - Work is weather dependent so individual must be reliable and ready to work completely depending on the weather. Generally work hours are evening, overnight and early morning anywhere between 7 PM and 8 AM each day there is snow. We generally don't work during the day, with the rare exception. Most common shift timings are: 2:00am until 9:00 am on typical light snow fall day (7-8 hours) 7:00 pm until 3-4 AM on typical light snow fall day (7-8 hours) 7:00 pm until 8:00 am on a large snow fall parking lot nights (13 hours) While position is considered somewhere between part time and full time, you can expect an average of 25-35 hours per week on average. Some weeks more, some weeks less as its weather dependant. Compensation: $25-$30 per hour to start depending. Higher end with more operator / crew leader experience in snow removal, lower end with only labor experience.
