The Lasting Lab is a youth-led, community-driven initiative dedicated to empowering immigrant, refugee, and first-generation youth and young adults (15+) of all genders. Based in Canada with an international reach, we create safe, inclusive spaces where young people can learn, lead, and grow together. Our work focuses on youth leadership, community engagement, education access, and skill-building through hands-on involvement. Through programs such as the Youth Congress, committees, mentorship, and partnerships with trusted institutions, The Lasting Lab supports young people in developing confidence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of belonging. We are currently seeking committed volunteers to support the growth and impact of our community through partnership-building, communication, and mentorship. Role Description Youth Mentors provide guidance, encouragement, and peer support to younger members of The Lasting Lab. This role is rooted in trust, care, and lived experience not authority or supervision. Mentors support youth as they navigate education, career exploration, and personal growth in a respectful and supportive environment. Qualifications Offer mentorship and encouragement to youth members Share personal experiences related to education, careers, or life transitions Support confidence-building and self-expression Contribute to a safe, respectful, and inclusive community Strong interpersonal skills and proficient in community engagement Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written) Experience in customer service and community management Ability to establish and sustain collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders Strong organizational and event management skills Passion for youth, community inclusion, and development Proficiency in additional languages and knowledge of the immigrant or refugee experience are assets Relevant educational qualifications or professional experience in community development, social work, or related fields Interest or experience in community engagement, outreach, or partnerships Commitment & Structure All roles are volunteer-based Flexible time commitment depending on availability Hybrid participation with occasional virtual meetings Support and onboarding provided Equal Opportunity & Inclusion The Lasting Lab is committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment.
