This role reports directly to the Manager of Diversity and Inclusion (Early Years Division). The Bilingual Early Intervention Consultant provides targeted intervention supports such as behaviour support plans, accommodations and adaptations, and individualized learning plans for preschoolers with additional needs in both francophone and anglophone Early Learning and Child Care settings. This role also provides modeling, coaching and training for front line staff in both French and English in Early Learning and Child Care centres to carry out targeted intervention goals. Responsibilities (Duties) Conduct both formal and informal observations and assessments using a variety of assessment tools in order to gain a robust understanding of a childs strengths and challenges; Use evidence-based teaching techniques to build functional skills for young children with exceptional needs; Design, update, and report on targeted intervention supports for children and training for frontline staff; Select appropriate teaching strategies for skillbuilding, including but not limited to shaping, chaining, modeling, prompting, and task analysis; Ensure targeted intervention plans and goals are developmentally appropriate and consistent with current evidencebased teaching practices, based on both peerreviewed research and current documents such as PEIs Early Learning Framework; Graph various forms of data for visual display and analysis; Collaborate with internal and external service providers and staff; Ensure that targeted intervention plans are aligned with compassionate ABA, assentbased learning, and neurodiversityaffirming practice. Maintain current knowledge of pedagogical approaches and sector standards by staying up to date with provincial and federal guidelines, strategies and curriculum frameworks; Other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in Psychology, Education or related field; Extensive training in Applied Behaviour Analysis; Advanced oral proficiency in English and French is required; Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered. Knowledge and experience in the area of child development, evidencebased early intervention strategies, and diversity and inclusion; Experience working with preschoolers with exceptional needs; Demonstrated ability to manage time, organize work responsibilities, work independently and as a team member; Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with the public, including both oral and written skills; Excellent computer skills, including email, word processing, presentation applications, spreadsheets and graphing; Bilingualism in French and English; Valid drivers license; Must have a good previous attendance and work record and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check prior to beginning employment. Other Qualifications Experience using ABA teaching techniques in interventions with preschoolers; Experience or knowledge in traumainformed care; assentbased learning; neurodiversityaffirming practice; and compassionate ABA; Training or experience in Practical Functional Assessment and SkillBased Treatment; Working knowledge of a variety of behavioural and developmental challenges such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, and the challenges associated with infants to school age children with exceptional needs; Knowledge of the Analysis of Verbal Behavior, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication; Board Certification in Behavior Analysis (BCBA).
