Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Fundraising to join our team. You will join us on a full-time basis as part of an initial 1-year fixed term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. In return, you will receive a competitive salary in the range of $114,750-$135,000 and benefits. Human Appeal is a faith-based charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide. The Head of Fundraising will lead the strategic development and operational delivery of Human Appeal Canada fundraising department, ensuring year-on-year income growth, increased impact of seasonal campaigns, and the elimination of underperformance. The Head of Fundraising will be responsible for developing and implementing departmental strategies, policies, and procedures; overseeing staff training and development; expanding the donor base; and exploring new income opportunities. The role also includes designing and embedding a clear methodology for each fundraising income stream and representing the charity externally to enhance visibility and partnerships. Key Duties and Responsibilities - Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the annual Canadian Fundraising and Programs Strategy in alignment with organizational goals and priorities. - Income Growth: Achieve year-on-year growth across all fundraising income streams, including seasonal campaigns, with clear targets for each stream. Review project reports (narrative/financial), spot checks findings, PCRs and donor feedback ensuring quality implementation, highlighting gaps and raising high level concerns. - Managerial Oversight: Provide direct line management and strategic support to fundraising management team, ensuring each is equipped to deliver growth in their respective areas. - Project Planning & Documentation: Ensure fundraising and program projects are planned, documented, and reviewed, with comprehensive records maintained for audit and learning. - Compliance & Governance: Maintain full compliance with Canadian fundraising laws, internal policies, and regulatory requirements. Ensure all fundraising activities are ethical, legal, and aligned with donor intent. - Quality & Audit Standards: Guarantee consistent quality across all fundraising outputs and ensure donations are accurately attributed and reported. - Donor Base Development: Grow the department's donor base through improved acquisition, retention, and engagement strategies. - Innovation & Opportunity: Identify and pilot new fundraising opportunities annually, with at least one new income stream or campaign model introduced each year. - Fundraising Methodology: Develop and embed a clear methodology for each income stream, ensuring consistency, scalability, and sustainability. - Training & Development: Oversee the training and professional development of all fundraising staff, with annual plans and measurable outcomes. - External Representation: Represent Human Appeal Canada at key external events, forums, and partnerships to enhance visibility and influence. Skills and Experience - Minimum 3 years experience within a Senior Fundraising role. - Proficiency in MS Office Suite. - Experience with Social Media. - Experience with Donor Management systems. - Working with People. - Delivering Results and Meeting Stakeholders Needs. - Adapting and Responding to Change. - Analysing. - Planning and Organising. - Relating and Networking. Education, Certifications, and Languages - Bachelor degree in a related field. - Knowledge of additional languages such as Arabic, Urdu, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi is an advantage.
