Reporting to Director of Finance, dotted line to Project Controls ManagerPosition OverviewBlue Moon Metals is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Project Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting projects by ensuring accurate financial tracking, reporting, and compliance. This position requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of financial integrity. Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor and manage project budgets, commitments, expenditures accruals and change orders, ensuring accurate financial tracking and reporting variances to key stakeholders.Prepare and analyze monthly project financial reports, including forecasts and cost-to-complete analyses.Assist in preparing quarterly and annual group financial reporting packages and supporting schedules.Support project budget updates, reforecasts and financial presentations for senior management and project teams.Work with EPCM contractors, to understand vendor work schedules, progress billings, change orders and contract compliance. Review contractor purchase orders, change orders and invoices to ensure proper coding and accuracy of records in the ERP systemOversee accounts payable and receivable processes for projects, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, payments, and reconciliations.Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors to ensure proper documentation and adherence to contractual obligations.Maintain accurate records of all project transactions in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.Support internal and external audit processes related to project financials.Identify opportunities for process improvements within project accounting functions and recommend best practices.QualificationsBachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation or progress towards is preferred.Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in project accounting or a similar role.Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g. SAP, IFS, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.Strong understanding of EPCM contracts and project financial management principles in a project construction environmentExcellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.Experience working in the metals, mining, or industrial sectors is an asset.Core CompetenciesAttention to detail and accuracyIntegrity and ethical conductEffective time management and prioritizationAdaptability and willingness to learnTeamwork and collaborationStrong written and verbal communication skillsPay range and compensation packageCompensation details will be discussed during the interview process.Equal Opportunity StatementWe are committed to diversity and inclusivity in our hiring practices and encourage applications from all qualified individuals.
