Job Description

The Operations Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations, organizational effectiveness, and team cohesion. This is a key leadership role as the company is in growth mode.ResponsibilitiesPromote a safe, injury / accident-free workplaceMaintain focus on product quality, zero defectManage all production activities in conjunction with production schedule; ensure estimated labour costs are being metSet direction in production departments to continually drive efficiency improvementsOversee customer deliveries and ensure proper processing to meet objectivesSchedule and oversee Production Meetings utilizing the team; set job prioritiesBuild strong customer/supplier relationships with other departments to ensure job deliverables are being metAlways be looking to Continuously Improve (CI) plant efficiencies through process/people improvements and assessing equipment effectivenessAid production in manufacturability issues to determine best approachManage cost in all areas of the manufacturing processEvaluate effectiveness and workload of teamParticipate in customer meetings as neededWork with production team to improve on time delivery resultsPercentage of time dedicated to assisting management team with overflow work as requiredAid in customer issues review to help determine best course of actionManage maintenance of facility and equipmentManage all department supervisors/lead handsMaintain a shop floor presenceKeep GM informed of production issues and winsMaintain/Develop KPIs; complete required reportsPerforming employee performance evaluations, addressing employee performance and corrective action plans for management staffResponsibilities may include interviewing, selection and hiring of new employeesExperience, Qualifications & AttributesPost secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Maintenance and/or Business Management is preferredStrong leadership, communication and interpersonal skillsMaintenance and Engineering leadership would be an asset5-10 years of management experience is an assetSome knowledge of existing business customer base and build on it, at the same time create new customer relationshipsPrevious experience in a Job Shop heavy fabrication, welding and/or machiningAbility to interpret engineering drawings and product specificationsKnowledge of AutoCAD, Solid works, 3D modeling an assetFamiliar with manufacturing processes in welding, machining, blasting and paintingMust be able to work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environmentAlways represent the Company with integrity in an ethical and legal mannerBe a change agent and self-starter motivated by a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Power Bi, etc.)Knowledge of ERP systems (Epicor) would be an assetKnowledge of ISO 9001, AWS, CWB procedures is an assetTeam orientated mindsetMechanical Aptitude is a plusExcellent analytical, organizational and communication skillsExceptionally detail-orientedOperate with a can do mindsetDriven to provide outstanding customer serviceWe thank all interested parties but only those selected will be contacted to move forward.
