If your recent impact was mainly within large, highlyresourced corporate teams, this is unlikely to be a fit. The Role Own the endtoend design and build of our data platform on AWS and GCP, from largescale collection and normalization to analytics surfaces such as APIs and dashboards. You will set architecture, ship production systems, and lead technical standards for reliability, cost, and security, while mentoring a strong junior fullstack team. This is a handson founding role with broad ownership. What you will do Lead the endtoend architecture for data ingestion, normalization, storage, and serving on AWS and GCP. Build reliable, observable pipelines (batch + streaming) with clear SLOs, runbooks, and cost controls. Stand up lake/warehouse layers (S3; Glue/Athena; DynamoDB/Aurora) and event/workflow systems (SQS/SNS/Kinesis, Step Functions/Airflow). Expose insights through secure APIs and lightweight dashboards; integrate pragmatic ML/analytics where it improves signal quality. Raise engineering standards (IaC, CI/CD, security, data governance) and mentor engineers. Background expectations Handson experience building and operating largescale cloud data systems from scratch and owning them in production. Deep AWS fluency: S3, Lambda, ECS or EKS, Step Functions, SQS or SNS or Kinesis, Glue, Athena, IAM, VPC, KMS Strong in Python and or TypeScript or Node.js, solid SQL and data modeling, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code Data engineering at scale: eventdriven design, schema evolution, idempotency, backfills, and endtoend observability Recent 01 or 1N platform ownership in a preseed to Series A startup Nice to have BI delivery with Next.js or React Security and compliance fundamentals, including audit trails, least privilege, and retention policies How to apply Email with your LinkedIn or GitHub and 3 to 5 bullets on a largescale data system you personally built and ran in production.
