Opportunity We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer in Ottawa, ON, to design and execute projects across civic, industrial, healthcare, commercial, and educational sectors. The successful candidate will provide technical mentorship, grow client relationships, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and meet customer requirements. Key Responsibilities Provide strong technical mentorship to junior and intermediate mechanical engineers and technologists. Conduct peer reviews of engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications within the mechanical team. Coordinate and be responsible for mechanical engineering drawings and specifications, Project Managing and/or working within multidisciplinary project teams. Prepare Technical Specifications and documents for bidding and construction. Design building HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems, focusing on concept design, and work with the mechanical team to develop full design packages. Prepare detailed engineering design calculations. Support specific sales, proposal, and project efforts. Determine the scope and fee for proposed engineering services. Nurture and maintain strong client relationships for project execution and participate in marketing/business development. Capabilities and Credentials Experience in mechanical design for water/wastewater facilities is considered an asset. Mechanical design experience of process piping systems is considered an asset. Excellent knowledge of national and provincial building codes and standards. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit MEP software. Good organization, coordination, and project management skills to maintain project schedules and budgets. Familiar with consulting contract terminology. Ability to bring diverse stakeholders together to meet tight deadlines. Demonstrated technical writing skills; capable of writing reports, proposals, letters, and technical specifications. Proven success in developing new business with existing clients and maintaining positive relationships. Good verbal communication and soft skills. Familiarity with industry trends and industry leaders in Ontario. Ability to work in English and in French is considered an asset. Education and Experience Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in the province of Ontario. License to practice engineering in Quebec is considered an asset. Minimum of 10 years of consulting engineering experience in the buildings industry, working with municipal, provincial, federal, industrial, healthcare, commercial and educational clients.
