Position: Psychogeriatric Resource Consultant Geriatric Psychiatry Community Services and the Behaviour Support Outreach Team (BSOT) Position Type: Temporary Full-Time (12 months) Hours: 70 hours biweekly Shift: Day (8:30 am 4:30 pm) Employment Type: Non-Union Posting Number: 9411 | Date Posted: December 12, 2026 | Closing Date: December 19, 2026 Job Summary: The consultant will be an employee of Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care and liaise with the Baycrest Geriatric Psychiatry Community Services (GPCS) and Behaviour Support Outreach Team (BSOT) programs. This role will also join a team of other Psychogeriatric Resource Consultants (PRC) distributed across the city and report to the Regional Geriatric Program (RGP) in a distributed matrix organizational model. The GPCS team is a mobile, interprofessional team that provides support to clients with mental illnesses living in the community and longterm care sector. The BSOT is also a mobile, interprofessional team that provides support to professional care providers and informal family caregivers of persons with behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia who reside in the community and longterm care. Baycrest and the RGP are recruiting a consultant to provide educational consultation services to staff members caring for seniors suffering behavioural disorders associated with a neurological or mental health illness with significant functional limitations and vulnerable adults who may be less than 65 years of age but whose cognitive and functional abilities are compromised by developmental disability, Down syndrome or early onset dementia. The PRCs work will be in LongTerm Care Facilities in the Toronto and Central Ontario Health regions, and will include working with Community Service Agencies and Ontario Health atHome. Job Duties and Responsibilities: - Collaborates with GPCS and BSOT to foster closer partnerships (e.g., attends team meetings) - Provides consultation to the GPCS and BSOT clinical teams as needed - Collaborates with RGP and other PRCs to support capacity building and knowledge exchange - Participates in and leads relevant education and research activities, performing duties consistent with the job classification as required - Collaborates with Baycrest clinical teams, longterm care facility staff, and the clients circle of care to ensure intervention and treatment plans are implemented - Participates in data collection and reporting on accountability measures - Ensures the protection of client rights and acts in an advocacy role for residents/clients Qualifications: - A university degree in Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, or equivalent - Current registration/licensure in good standing as required by a professional body - At least two (2) years experience in psychogeriatric services is preferred; otherwise significant experience in geriatrics, longterm care, or communitybased senior care is essential - Proficient demonstrated competence in standard psychogeriatric assessment tools - Knowledge and experience in adult learning styles and education - Proficiency in computing software such as Word, PowerPoint, Email, and the Internet - Drivers license and ability to travel across the region and the GTA daily Preferred Considerations and Competencies: - Having a car is highly recommended - Training as a trainer in Gentle Persuasive Approach, P.I.E.C.E.S, U-First, DementiAbility, BSO Foundations, Supporting Older Adults Living with Mental Illness, or willingness to be trained Additional Benefits: - Vacation Entitlement - Enrolment in extended health and dental benefit plan - Enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) - 24/7 Employee Assistance Program Internal Applicants: Current Baycrest employees must apply online through the Baycrest intranet.
