Job Summary Altus Group is currently seeking a candidate in the position of Associate based out of our Halifax office to join our Development Advisory division. The Associate will be an integral part of the Atlantic team, responsible for managing multiple development advisory project deliverables, ensuring highquality, accurate, and efficient output within assigned budgets. This role provides comprehensive quantity surveying and cost planning across public and private sector projects in the Atlantic region. The Associate will actively support client relationship management, technical quality assurance, and business development initiatives through service excellence. Key Responsibilities Deliver cost planning, project monitoring, estimating, value management, and consulting services for a variety of project asset classes throughout the Atlantic region. Prepare detailed and conceptual cost estimates, including measurements of building elements and review of contract documentation. Provide benchmarking data, unit cost analysis, and complex takeoffs. Review, negotiate, and validate pricing for change orders to ensure alignment with project budgets. Collaborate with internal and external project stakeholders to gather data information to prepare proposals/reports; develop innovative solutions to meet the clients unique requirements. Conduct technical checking and quality assurance of peer review reports to ensure professionalism prior to issuance. Direct the distribution and collection of inputs required for estimate preparation, ensuring adherence to deadlines. Maintain positive and proactive client communication to resolve issues and support ongoing project needs. Support business development by fostering strong longterm client relationships and identifying opportunities for continued engagement. Key Qualifications Minimum 5-7 years of experience in construction cost estimating, project monitoring, cost control, and quantity takeoffs. Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) with CIQS is preferred; candidates working towards PQS designation will also be considered. Strong knowledge of the local construction industry, including owners, contractors, subtrades, and contract structures. Proficiency in CostX (including Databooks), Bluebeam, Sharepoint, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams). Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with attention to detail. Understanding of CIQS standard method of measurement elemental/trade, Provincial lien act and Standard contract conditions CCDC. Knowledge of various procurement methods and project scheduling principles. Ability to complete trade and elemental takeoffs from preliminary design through tender and construction documentation.
