We are currently looking for an experienced, Vancouverbased Sr. Project Accountant to join our crew. This hybrid position requires some inoffice work and fulltime availability during business hours MondayFriday, with occasional overtime. You will report to the Director of Project Management and work closely with Finance and Programs teams. Responsibilities Project Accounting Accounting, reporting and finance functions for capital and revenue basis projects. Maintain financial models in Excel for project costings, scenario analysis, and other adhoc analysis. Prepare and submit financial claims under various Canadian Government R&D funding programs. Review new claims, projects and project contracts; support programs team. Support new project bids by providing costing templates and detailed costing review. Prepare and maintain new and ongoing projects in NetSuite. Work with Program Managers to determine optimal project resource allocations and help ensure timely and accurate completion of internal timesheets (generate reports to compare actuals vs forecasted). Support projectrelated business process analysis and improvement. Prepare quarterly PO reconciliation. Update project labour rates and overhead allocations on a quarterly basis. Manage subcontract invoicing, POs and track payment milestone schedules. Manage risk approval process based on inputs from PMs. Manage monthly reporting schedule in accordance with financial reporting requirements to stakeholders. Budgeting & Forecasting Proactively update project staffing plans, P&L, budgeting and cashflow forecasts with Programs team, meeting strict deadlines. Monthly Status Reports (MSRs) showing variance analysis, ETC, EAC, forecast maintenance (R&D and Govt funding), and contribution table; support PM to validate data. Monthly Program Report updates for EDC showing variance analysis, ETC, EAC, forecast. Weekly cash planning and cashflow forecasting support for projects. Financing Reporting & Close Support Support monthend close by preparing inputs for capitalized development costs, R&D allocations and various accruals. Prepare revenue recognition spreadsheet & government funding working papers. Nonlabour project coding for costs incurred per project. Assist with preparation of yearend financial statements and annual audit. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA designation (or working towards) asset. 5+ years experience in project accounting and management reporting. Experience with government grants and SR&ED asset. Experience with ERPs (NetSuite preferred) / other project accounting software. Experience with SharePoint. Experience working in a project environment and understanding project management processes and language (e.g., WBS, ETC, EAC, WPDs). Experience with Government R&D projects and accounting rules. Experience with monthend closings, journal entries, reconciliations and AR/AP. Hightech industry (or similar) experience asset. Toolkit Strong knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS, particularly revenue recognition, cost of sales and capitalization. Expertise in building large Excel spreadsheets and maintaining them under collaborative editing. Excellent customer service and written/verbal communication skills. Meticulous attention to detail. Proficient troubleshooter with expertise in identifying and resolving issues promptly. Teamoriented professional who appreciates coordinating with various teams to ensure seamless collaboration and project success. Interest in applying technology and new systems and tools to improve processes, including AI. Compensation Base Salary Range: $80,000$100,000 CAD annually. The range is based on Vancouver, BC-derived compensation. Individual placement in the range is determined by experience, skills and qualifications. The top end typically reserved for individuals meeting or exceeding all required qualifications and demonstrating experience and expertise in all responsibilities.
