Overview We are seeking a seasoned Manager with specialized expertise in Cost Accounting and Inventory Management to join our Financial Accounting Advisory Services Finance Optimization (FAASFO) team in Toronto. This role focuses on evaluating and optimizing product/service costing and inventory processes as a business advisor, with a strong background in accounting and financial reporting. Your Key Responsibilities As a Manager focused on Cost Accounting and Inventory Management within our Finance Optimization competency, you will actively contribute to teams that develop our Finance Optimization service pillar through business development, client relationship management, opportunity management, and clientfacing engagement delivery. Key duties include: Contributing to the growth and development of the Finance Optimization service pillar, including business development and client relationship management. Providing innovative advice for optimizing financial and operational cost accounting and reporting processes by leveraging process optimization and technology. Serving as a Cost Accounting and Inventory Management specialist on finance optimization projects, advising on leading practices, system configuration, and optimization strategies. Managing the full lifecycle of Costing/Inventory engagements from scoping and requirements gathering to implementation, training, and deliverable preparation. Developing and maintaining strong client relationships; communicating and proposing business process improvements. Contributing to practice development through business development, knowledge sharing, mentoring, and fostering continuous learning. Skills And Attributes for Success Evaluate and optimize client cost accounting and inventory management frameworks tailored to their structure and reporting requirements. Design and implement programs to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, and reduce costs. Perform cost reviews and identify opportunities for savings across operations, procurement, and logistics. Apply optimization techniques to: Cost Accounting develop standard costs, track and report costs, analyze variances. Inventory Management track, control, and report inventory cost and accuracy. Record to Report general ledger, journal entries, and cost allocation. Budgeting and Forecasting develop operational/plant budgets and forecasts with variance analysis. Knowledge of associated financial processes and controls such as Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, and Acquire to Retire. Optimize the monthly financial statement close process and support consolidation and foreign currency revaluation under Global Business Management. Build and automate reports to streamline internal and external reporting. Maintain productive relationships with client management and collaborate with other EY service line teams. What We Look For Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Information Systems, or related field. Strong understanding of accounting principles; CPA or equivalent designation is required. 5+ years of handson experience in cost accounting or controllership in manufacturing, processing, or related environment. Deep knowledge of cost accounting principles such as ActivityBased Costing and GAAP. Familiarity with costing, budgeting, and planning solutions is an asset. Proficiency in project management and ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously (PMP designation an asset). Experience in process optimization or business analysis with documentation. Experience with inventory management processes, including tracking, costing, and reporting. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills; strong English, French an asset. Lead highquality work products within timeframes and budgets. Highly adaptable, selfstarting attitude, and motivation. Ability to travel 1030%. Ideally, Youll Also Work independently in a fastpaced, dynamic teamoriented environment. Develop relationships and rapidly build credibility and trust. Demonstrate record of driving revenue within existing accounts and developing new prospects.
