Nurse Practitioner Cardiac Care Unit Residency Opportunity at Fraser Health Authority Salary: CAD $59.56 - $85.62 / hour Job Summary Surrey Memorial Hospital (SMH) in Surrey, B.C. is proud to offer an exciting opportunity for a 1.0 FTE Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dynamic Cardiac Care Unit (CCU). Located in one of British Columbias fastest growing communities, Surrey Memorial is the second largest hospital in the province, delivering specialized care to residents across the Fraser Health region. This full-time role invites you to bring your clinical expertise, compassion, and dedication to a highly collaborative, team-based model of care. Working in close partnership with cardiologists who remain Most Responsible Physicians (MRPs) or consultants of the patients, the NP will play an essential part in advancing patient outcomes and cardiac care excellence. The NP practices autonomously and interdependently within an interdisciplinary team, making referrals to specialists as appropriate. The position collaborates with patients and other health professionals to identify trends and implement population- and evidence-based strategies to improve health, and participates in peer review and self-review to evaluate service outcomes at patient and population levels. Responsibilities Diagnoses and treats diagnosed and undiagnosed conditions within scope; writes orders and provides first-line care in emergencies Monitors ongoing care, orders and interprets investigations; plans treatment and follow-up Establishes priorities for management; communicates findings, diagnoses, and prognoses to patients and families Collaborates with physicians and other providers to assess and diagnose; develops and implements treatment plans; may admit/discharge per policy Prescribes drugs within standards and policies Assigns work to other nursing/health staff; may hire and evaluate staff Participates in research and population health initiatives Maintains population health focus with screening and health promotion Participates in education and mentoring within the team Develops and evaluates policies and procedures related to nursing and care Performs other duties as required Qualifications Education and Experience Current practicing registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) Recent relevant clinical nursing experience Competencies and Capabilities Leadership aligned with Fraser Health values Ability to communicate and collaborate with patients and families Ability to consult with and refer to physicians and other professionals Ability to critically assess literature and implement evidence-based practice Ability to assess population health trends and plan prevention strategies Ability to implement and evaluate planned changes Ability to supervise, lead teams, and work collaboratively Self-direction and adaptability in dynamic settings Ability to teach, coach and mentor others Awareness of legal and ethical issues in patient care Commitment to ongoing professional development About Fraser Health Fraser Health serves over two million people in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley in British Columbia, on traditional lands of the Coast Salish and Nlakapamux Nations, and includes 32 First Nations within the Fraser Salish region.
