Monitor and observe clients in the therapeutic milieu, and develop and implement teaching interventions as required.Perform mental status exams as required and document pertinent data.Contribute to the development, revision and implementation of treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.Document pertinent client information such as admission histories, interventions, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Participate in client meetings and present individual client cases in rounds and case conferences. Provide input toward strategies or interventions for clients and families, and implement interventions in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.Provide support and one-to-one counselling to adolescents using a variety of strategies including psycho-education, problem solving, de-escalation techniques, behaviour management, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, activity-based and other appropriate interventions. Provide support and psycho-education to families as needed.Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team in planning, implementing, and co-facilitating social/recreational, psycho-educational and life skills groups for adolescents in the program.Participate in the orientation of new clients and families to the program as directed.Transport clients by van on outings authorized by the clinical team and in accordance with program guidelines; complete a vehicle safety check to ensure the vehicle is safe for use.Maintain program equipment and supplies related to the social/recreation components of the program.Attend team and multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences and clinical supervision as required.Attend related education programs/workshops to maintain a high standard of knowledge.Participate in quality improvement/program evaluation/research activities and implementation of evidence-based best practices in providing care to adolescents and their families.Performs other related duties as required.QualificationsEducation and ExperienceBaccalaureate Degree in Child and Youth Care or a Baccalaureate Degree in an equivalent health-related discipline. One (1) year recent related experience working with youth with mental health issues in a multidisciplinary setting. Valid B.C. Class IV Driver's License (unrestricted).Skills And AbilitiesKnowledge of adolescent development and the broad range of issues pertaining to adolescent mental health.Demonstrated ability to work with adolescents with mental health/psychiatric issues.Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and techniques.Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation including the B.C.
