We achieve this purpose by building deep and sustained relationships with our donors, alumni and friends that increase awareness of, engagement with, and investment in the University of Guelph s work. As a member of this campuswide team, the Senior Treasury Lead epitomizes the departments shared values of respect, empowerment, integrity, appreciation, and forward focus. The University of Guelph is currently planning to launch its first fundraising campaign since 2014. The campaign aims to expand on the Universitys recent fundraising growth so that AA&D becomes a team that consistently raises $75M a year by 2030 (a record $55M was raised in FY24/25). By aligning donor passions with the university's ambitious goals, the campaign will boost revenue, elevate the universitys global profile, deepen donor relationships, and create a highly developed culture of philanthropy across the University community. Institutional leaders and volunteers will be highly engaged in advocating for the universitys global impact and the vital role of philanthropy in achieving this vision. Duties and Responsibilities Oversee and supervise all donations, including reconciliation; process complex donations such as shares, ETFs, wire transfers, gifts in kind, thirdparty gifts, vet clinic statements, and establish and monitor complex gift pledges and planned gifts based on incoming agreements. Mentor and coach records and treasury staff to audit and factcheck their work, ensuring accurate processing, and review and sign off on treasury remittances. Monitor and review grant accounts and external bank accounts; collaborate with Treasury to ensure prompt processing of donations. Provide backup support to the Finance Manager in personnel management and assist Records & Gift Administrators/Treasury Assistants in processing donations during leaves (cheques, cash, credit cards, online donations, direct deposits, preauthorized payments, payroll deductions, recurring gifts). Apply analytical, interpretive, and sound judgment to evaluate and recommend on donations aligned to CRA guidelines. Serve as a super user on multiple technology platforms (Cannon/AA&D CRM, BBIS via Blackbaud Merchant Services, vet clinic portal, and Luminate Online database). Autonomously provide advice and interpretation of policies and procedures; elevate CRA regulation considerations to the Finance Manager when necessary. Analyze varied and complex situations to safeguard donor funds and relationships, ensuring risk of noncompliance is minimized. Oversee approximately 16,000+ gifts annually (average 11,000 donors, average value $36+ million), generate precise records for university reporting and CRA standards (including T3010 completion), and assist internal and external auditors with documentation. Maintain donor and alumni personal information in compliance with privacy regulations. Communicate and coach staff in donor interactions across inperson, phone, electronic, and mail communications, coordinating with AA&D staff, Treasury, Central Accounting, and other university departments. Requirements Undergraduate degree; CPA designation or currently pursuing CPA is preferred (equivalent work experience considered). Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting or treasury operations in a nonprofit/fundraising environment or experience with CRA regulations. Experience processing charitable donation receipts and knowledge of CRA guidelines; CRM database experience is an advantage. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationshipbuilding skills; prior customer service experience required. Excellent informationmanagement skills; understanding of data logic to structure reports for data oversight is preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
