The Role Its an energetic time of change, and were looking for a Financial & Systems Controller who can bring fresh perspective, perseverance, and strategic insight to help guide that evolution. This role combines financial leadership with ERP/system ownership and operational process management. You will ensure both the numbers and the systems behind the numbers run with precision, efficiency, and insight. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both: Handson Financial Controller work accounting, payroll, FX, reporting, cash flow, margins, inventory accounting. Systems & Operational Ownership SAP B1, workflows, data integrity, integrations, process improvements, automation, inventory accuracy, and crossdepartment support. Key Responsibilities Oversee all accounting functions, including monthend and yearend close for auditors. Manage cash flow, AP, AR, payroll (ADP), and inventory accounting. Process bimonthly payroll for salaried staff and monthly incentive calculations for sales staff. Handle foreign exchange transactions including purchasing currency, managing FX risk, and hedging strategies. Prepare accurate financial statements, management reports, budgets, and forecasts. Maintain internal controls, compliance, accounting policies, and audit readiness. Partner with operations and sales to improve margins and profitability. Provide financial insights into CAPEX, ERP upgrades, and strategic initiatives. Liaise with banking partners, tax advisors, and auditors. ERP, Systems & Data Ownership (SAP B1) Serve as primary administrator/owner of SAP Business One. Manage integrations (WMS, EDI, ecommerce platforms, B2B portal, 3PLs). Oversee system access, permissions, workflow approvals, and new user setup. Lead configuration updates, testing (UAT), and work with SAP partners/vendors. Build queries, dashboards, and KPI reports to guide decisionmaking. Resolve technical or workflow issues with SAP partners and support teams. Build automation tools (pricing updates, SKU uploads, data scripts, dashboards). Operational Workflow Leadership Map and optimize business workflows including order entry, inbound goods handling, stock transfers, RMA processes, BOMs/kitting, ecommerce & retailerspecific workflows (Mobile Shop, Walmart, etc.). Reduce manual processes and streamline SOPs across departments. Ensure crossdepartment compliance with SOPs and system processes. Identify bottlenecks and implement scalable solutions. Inventory & Supply Chain Data Integrity Work closely with Purchasing on vendor price list accuracy, SKU creation, landed cost calculations, EOL and product lifecycle risk, inventory accuracy (costing, pricing, and physical counts). Support better inventory turns, accuracy, and forecasting. Analyze operational inefficiencies; design and implement improvements. Standardize procedures to reduce errors and improve throughput. Lead implementation of new internal tools (Power BI, WMS upgrades, B2B portal). Project Management: Lead cross-company initiatives such as: Onboarding new brands (set up, receiving workflows, SKU mapping) Launching new ERP modules or features Integrating with 3PLs System upgrade cycles Managing project timelines, deliverables, stakeholders, and budgets Cross-Functional Support: Work closely with: Operations (warehouse workflows) Sales (customer workflows, pricing, reports) Product team (SKU data & lifecycle) Act as translator between technical users and non-technical staff. Support leadership with dashboards, reporting, and strategic decisionmaking. Qualifications CPA designation (CA, CMA, CGA) or equivalent strongly preferred. Progressive accounting/finance experience, ideally in wholesale, distribution, or retail. Strong understanding of inventory-based businesses, foreign exchange, and margin management. Systems & Operations Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (SAP Business One experience is an asset). Experience with WMS, EDI, ecommerce integrations, 3PLs Process mapping and workflow redesign Lean/Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience Soft Skills Handson, proactive, and adaptable; comfortable doing the work while driving improvement.
