Construction Site Supervisor Paradigm Building Solutions Job Summary The Construction Site Supervisor is an opportunity for someone looking for a mix of leadership and handson work. This position will consist of a variety of tasks from managing, leading, quality oversight and handson building, for various types of construction projects throughout BC. Travel and rotational work will likely be required depending on the project assignment. The ideal candidate will be a forwardthinking problem solver and team player. Key Responsibilities Supervise, direct, and motivate site crews, subcontractors and trades to achieve project goals and objectives. Collaborate closely with Superintendents for task assignments and project objectives. Plan and schedule daily work activities in alignment with project timelines and milestones. Coordinate deliveries, equipment, and material handling to minimize downtime. Assist in problemsolving and decisionmaking when unexpected site challenges arise. Maintain daily site reports, time sheets, and records of work completed. Communicate clearly with the Site Superintendent / Project Manager regarding progress, issues, and resource needs. Support training and mentoring of apprentices and junior crew members. Be part of a continuous improvement process. Construction and Installation Install prefabricated wall panels, floors, roofs, and other structure systems according to project plans and specifications. Perform layout, measuring, cutting, and assembly of wood and other building materials as required. Execute finishing work including trim, doors, windows, stairs, and other interior/exterior carpentry tasks. Safely use and operate basic hand and power tools. Install joists, trusses, and rafters. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Blueprints and Specifications Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, building plans, and sketches to understand project requirements. Take precise measurements and calculate the dimensions needed for the project. Select appropriate materials based on project requirements. Quality Assurance Monitor workmanship and ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and building codes. Ensure the accuracy and quality of carpentry work, woodwork, and materials, maintaining high standards of craftsmanship. Safety Compliance Enforce health & safety policies, conduct toolbox talks, and ensure a safe worksite at all times. Follow and model established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure all tools and machinery are in safe working condition. Safe and efficient operation of hand tools and construction equipment. Material Management Select and source appropriate materials for projects, considering factors such as durability, strength, and budget. Estimate material requirements and costs and manage supplies to avoid waste. Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an apprenticeship program or similar formal training in carpentry. Safety certifications considered an asset. Crane Operator experience/certification is an asset. 23 years of experience in a similar role. Minimum of 35 years of experience as a carpenter, with a solid portfolio of completed projects. Skills Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and machinery related to carpentry. Strong understanding of carpentry techniques and materials. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail. Good physical stamina and handeye coordination. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to follow instructions. Excellent practical knowledge in residential construction. Excellent understanding of construction drawings. Strong understanding of building performance, building envelope, and energy efficiency. Physical Requirements Ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, and handling materials. Capable of working in various environments, including outdoor construction sites, and under various weather conditions. Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and tools, sometimes weighing up to 50 pounds or more. Work is typically performed on construction sites, which may involve exposure to loud noises, dust, and hazardous materials. May require working at heights, in confined spaces, or in various weather conditions.
