Advanced Nurse Practitioner / Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist Annex 21 Trainee ANP NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and nonclinical professions. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million, extending to 2.2 million via regional and national services. Shift pattern: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am 5:00pm. Please note that effective 1April2026, the fulltime working hours for all Agenda for Change posts will be reduced to 36 hours. The Acute Oncology Service at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital is a nurseled service run by experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioners. The service provides specialised oncology care and advice to patients who present acutely unwell as a result of an oncological emergency or as a side effect of their cancer treatment. This can often be the initial presentation of cancer and patients require highly specialist care and psychological support. Role & responsibilities Provide direct advanced clinical care to patients with oncological malignancy, utilising a broad range of advanced knowledge, skills and theory in clinical assessment, diagnosis and initial management. Detect and intervene early in clinical deterioration among existing or new medical conditions. Demonstrate highlevel communication skills to liaise effectively with the multidisciplinary team. Exercise a high degree of personal professional autonomy and make critical judgements within agreed clinical protocols. Additional role: As Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist for the Cancer of Unknown Primary service (~2days per week) based at Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. Responsibilities include clinical assessment in clinic, psychological support, complex symptom management and prescribing chemotherapy/systemic anticancer treatment. Qualifications & experience Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration. Minimum of 5years nursing experience, with experience in acute care (acute medicine, surgical, oncology/haematology). Evidence of sound clinical decisionmaking and prescribing practice, with knowledge and training equivalent to masters level or commitment to undertake the required pathway. Experience in senior leadership responsibilities and quality improvement projects. Completed or committed to completing a clinical assessment course and Nurse Prescribing (NMP) training.
