Job Description AECOM Mississauga is looking for a seasoned Railway Track Inspector to work on client sites based in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Areas. Responsibilities Monitor quality of work performed by contractors for track construction, including new tracks, turnouts, and related signal construction sites. Inspect track construction and perform detailed turnout inspections. Monitor destressing and welding of rail, performing audits and inspections. Ensure work complies with client engineering track standards, contract documents, and quality control procedures. Review design drawings, reports, and project specifications. Evaluate project progress against time schedules and payment requirements. Review and monitor contractor safety programs to ensure client requirements are met. Inspect thirdparty track work constructed during track closures, ensuring safety for normal rail traffic. Participate in inservice track inspections and sign off on inspection forms before opening tracks for service. Evaluate and report on existing tracks, recommending maintenance and renewal projects. Participate in prework planning and postwork meetings for major track closures. Understand client workplan methodology and review contractor submissions and permit documents. Oversee grinding operations on site to meet optimal rail profiles and applicable standards. Prepare detailed track inspection reports with resources, equipment, photographs, and memorandums as required. Participate in bid document preparation, cost estimating, contractor evaluation, and construction administration. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Technical College Diploma and at least 4 years of railway track inspection experience. Qualified for or able to obtain Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR), Metrolinx Personal Track Safety (PTS) certificate, and Class 1 Railway Track Inspection Guidelines (TIG) Inspector Card. Drivers licence and vehicle required. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) with strong writing and analytical skills. Proficient in preparing detailed site visit reports. Must have own vehicle and be able to conduct site visits throughout the GTHA, Ontario, and Canada. Willing to work away from home for up to two weeks. Available for weekends, night shifts, and extended continuous shifts. Obtain necessary client trainings and certifications. Must obtain eRailSafe certification and required security clearance for rail sites. Preferred Qualifications 10+ years of experience in construction/maintenance of continuous welded rails and jointed tracks for freight and commuter services. 15+ years of experience in heavyrail track construction projects or maintenance with Class 1 railway. Indepth knowledge of current railway engineering track standards (CN, Metrolinx, GEI, GTS, DRM). Licensed Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) in Ontario is an asset. Strong teamwork and communication skills in a collaborative environment. Experience with various track systems: welded/jointed tracks, ballast, turnouts, ties, power switches, yard layouts. Experience in track construction sequencing and live adjacent train traffic operations. Understanding of contracts, project specifications, and bid items related to track construction. Proficiency with physical track measuring devices (track gauge, Geismar Amber gauge, rail wear gauges, temperature gauges). Experience with Rolling Contact Fatigue (RCF) mitigation, heavyrail postgrinding inspections, and KPI demonstration. Experience in constructing transit facilities and railway track construction sites. Ability to operate Geismar Amber Track Gauge (asset). Certificates in thermite welding and electric flush butt welding procedures (asset). Flexibility to quickly absorb new information and handle challenging assignments. Background in heavy civil grading, shoring, and retaining walls is an asset. Additional Information Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position. Compensation The hourly rate for this position ranges from CAD 34.16 to CAD 52.88, based on education, qualifications, experience, and location.
