Unit SummaryThe express unit is a transitional unit providing care for adult patients awaiting admission and discharge, supporting the Juravinski Hospital and the JCC.Position SummaryAs a member of the healthcare team, the Registered Nurse coordinates and evaluates patient care and provides nursing care according to the job description and Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses on Ward Inpatient Hold.Schedule Work Hours: days, nights, weekends, holidaysQualificationsCurrent Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse or eligible for temporary registrationDemonstrated current knowledge of assessment and management in a broad range of disease processesDemonstrated current knowledge and experience in Acute Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics, Oncology and Hematology nursingDemonstrated expertise in physical assessment, telemetry, rehabilitative approaches and health teachingDemonstrated current knowledge of cardiac and respiratory arrest procedures with a current BCLS certificateKnowledge of the nursing care plan and evidence of ability to utilize problem-solving and critical-thinking techniques effectively in an acute medical / surgical settingDemonstrated proficiency in working with patients, families, peers and the multidisciplinary healthcare team, both in hospital and in the communityDemonstrated interpersonal, communication and teamwork skillsDemonstrated strong leadership ability and organizational skills, with evidence of ongoing professional developmentAbility to perform well in a fast paced environmentGuidelinesHamilton Health Sciences fosters a culture of patient and staff safety, whereby all employees are guided by our Mission, Vision, Values, and Values Based Code of Conduct.
