The successful candidate will be offered a tenured or tenuretrack appointment with the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, which is in accordance with the Faculty Agreement Schedule A (2020-2024) and offers benefits and pension as outlined by the university. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering at the University of Alberta is seeking applications for a fulltime tenuretrack Assistant or Associate Professor position in integrated circuits engineering. Research Expertise Energyefficient mixedsignal and RFIC design SubTHz and mmwave circuits and systems for highspeed wireless/wireline communication links (5G/6G and beyond, 100400Gbps links) Integrated circuits, including neuromorphic chips, for artificial intelligence, machine learning, and edge computing Ultralowpower circuits for IoT applications Circuits for biomedical, wireless power, and sensing applications Interface circuits for quantum computers Hardware security and trusted IC design SysteminPackage (SiP) and advanced IC packaging technologies Responsibilities Teaching (40%) Participate in teaching programs, including classroom teaching, supervision of research students, and personal interactions with and advising of students. Design specific course content and instructional methodology within approved course descriptions and university policies. Teaching occurs yearround, with most courses in the Fall (SeptDec) and Winter (JanApr) semesters. Teaching assignments are coordinated with the Department Chair. Licensure as a Professional Engineer or Licensee in Alberta is required; must be obtained within five years of hire. Research (40%) Participate in research, including the preparation or performance of creative works and reflective inquiry. Disseminate research results appropriately. Seek funding for research from granting agencies or other sources. Service (20%) Actively engage in service to the university, participating in departmental, faculty, and university governance. Contribute to the discipline through public dissemination of knowledge. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering or a related field such as Computer Science Experience effectively communicating research results within and outside academia, including publications in reputable peerreviewed journals and conferences Licensure, progress toward licensure, or eligibility for licensure as a Professional Engineer or Licensee in Alberta (APEGA), obtained within five years of hire Ability to develop, instruct, and engage learners in the engineering curriculum Excellent written and verbal communication skills Additional Assets Industry experience in engineering, trades, sciences, or technology industries Experience with interdisciplinary and collaborative research projects and managing large, multiyear research projects Experience working with industry and community partners for research projects Team, lab, and facility management experience, including safety, supervision, and procurement Teaching experience and training in teaching, lesson planning, and curriculum design Teaching, research, service, and volunteer work related to the role, as well as community board and organization involvement and outreach to underserved communities Grant application and financial management experience and training How to Apply Please ensure that your application clearly demonstrates how your skills and experience meet the criteria above.
