Multiple longterm care (LTC) homes have exciting opportunities for you to provide the challenging, diverse, and impactful work of caring for the frail elderly. Benefits and Opportunities You will become part of a supportive physician community. Each care home works closely with an interdisciplinary team to provide holistic residentcentered care. You have the opportunity to join the LongTermCare Initiative (LTCI) which includes the following: Paid mentorship opportunities. Participation in a selfscheduling, paid, afterhours care system (commitment of only one week of coverage per quarter; coverage is shared amongst the Vancouver LTCI practitioners). Opportunities for paid participation in longtermcarespecific events. Opportunities to participate in LTC qualityimprovement projects and CME. You can develop and grow your skills in providing care for the frail elderly and transfer these skills to your work in community and hospital settings. Allows for flexibility in your schedule supplement other family practice work with an LTC panel to add variety to your workday. You can work with the care home leadership to set the size of your panel and your availability for providing care. Caring for the frail elderly is both challenging and incredibly rewarding. Why Now? There are a number of vacancies for longterm care physicians, giving you greater opportunity to select the specific care home or area you would like to work in. With an ageing population, care of the frail elderly will become increasingly important in both community and longterm care settings. Job Details Job Title: Family Physician Remuneration: LFP model or feeforservice, with additional incentive payments. Position Type: Permanent, PartTime Start Date: Negotiable End Date: Until filled Job Specifics: Physicians commit to a formal relationship with a care home and receive additional funding. Responsibilities include regular proactive visits, onsite medication reviews, attendance at care conferences, involvement in 24/7 oncall, and completed documentation in charts. Remuneration Details: LTCI care home panels are remunerated through the LFP model or feeforservice. Payments include: Participation in the afterhours care program: $1,000 for weekday shifts (5pm to 8am MondayThursday) and $1,400 for weekend shifts (5pm Friday to 8am Monday). Sessional payments for participation in mentorship activities, events, and qualityimprovement projects.
