Job Description

Manager, Post-Secondary Education and Training Policy First Nations Education Steering Committee (FNESC) seeks a dedicated, energetic, and organized Manager to join our Education Policy team. This role supports First Nations education and training initiatives in British Columbia. Key Responsibilities Provide seniorlevel leadership and strategic planning to advance the postsecondary education and training agenda. Represent FNESC and IAHLA at postsecondary related meetings with government, regulatory bodies, sector organizations, and Indigenous partners. Oversee management of programs and collaboration with relevant agencies to coordinate support for First Nations postsecondary learners. Develop innovative policy approaches and implement strategies for positive change within First Nations postsecondary education. Ensure effective management of postsecondary funding, budgeting and minimizing variances at yearend. Support provincial and national policy consultations and advocacy to improve the quality of First Nations postsecondary education and training. Act as liaison between FNESC and IAHLA, coordinating joint initiatives and meetings. Provide support to IAHLA on matters concerning Indigenous adult and postsecondary institutes in BC. Supervise and support postsecondary area staff, contractors and consultants. Establish performance standards for policy staff and maintain continuous operational improvement. Qualifications Minimum of a Bachelors degree or higher in Political Science, Public Policy, Education, Education Administration, or related field. 5+ years of experience in postsecondary education or training and at least 2 years working with First Nations and/or First Nations postsecondary students. 2+ years of experience managing, directing and leading employees. Extensive project management experience with budget development and control. Comprehensive knowledge of First Nations adult and postsecondary education and related issues in British Columbia, including current trends and best practices. Familiarity with relevant legislation, regulations and acts pertaining to the education environment. Benefits Base salary of CA$97,053 per year.
