Camp Goodtimes: Provides an unforgettable overnight summer camp experience for children and youth affected by cancer. Role Overview: The Outdoor Skills Program Leader lives on site at Camp Goodtimes hosted by UBCs Loon Lake Lodge and Retreat Centre, near Maple Ridge, BC. Working with the summer staff team and volunteer team, they facilitate programs such as archery, nature, sports, and special event programs. Under the direction of the Summer Program Director, they ensure programming is inclusive and supportive of the social and emotional needs of participants. They provide support in all land areas of camp to ensure we are providing intentional, creative, safe, and fun programs at camp. They will take a lead role facilitating skillbased programs on land as well as campwide programs and special events. Commitment: May 9, June 6, 7, 23, 24 Inperson training in Vancouver or at camp at Loon Lake Lodge and Retreat Centre. June 28 August 2, 2026 Onsite living at camp for 6 sessions (at least 24 hours off each week). Meals and accommodation included. August 8 27, 2026 Onsite living at Camp Pringle, Shawnigan Lake, BC (at least 24 hours off each week). Meals and accommodation included. What Youll Be Doing: Facilitate outdoor skillbased programs including Archery, Field Sports, Nature. Facilitate creative cabinbased programming in afternoons, evenings, and allcamp programs. Set up and take down of all programs. Plan and execute creative skits throughout camp. Teach facilitation skills to volunteers. Contribute to our culture of diversity, inclusion, belonging, and equity by ensuring all staff feel represented, valued, and heard. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Previous experience in camping, youth recreation, and experiential education. Experience working with populations with a range of accessibility needs. Excellent interpersonal skills, including team building and facilitation. Ability to take initiative, problemsolve, and work as a team member. Experience or understanding of cancer diagnosis and its impact, or a willingness to learn. Current Standard First Aid and CPRC. Criminal Record Search including vulnerable sector check (once hired). Must provide proof of uptodate childhood immunizations. Must provide proof of COVID19 vaccines and booster within 12 months of camp start date. National Lifeguard (NL) as an asset.
