This role could be based in Victoria, Vancouver, or Kamloops, depending on the successful candidates location.Thurber is a specialized consulting firm focused on geotechnical engineering. Our projects include transportation, infrastructure, natural hazards, development, and more. We undertake challenging assignments involving steep terrain, deep foundations, soils, landslides, contamination, and other complexities.As our Geotechnical Engineer, you will work on diverse projects and develop your skills with guidance from our senior team.ResponsibilitiesConduct geotechnical investigations, structural design, instrumentation, and analysis of tunnels;Design temporary portal shoring, including concrete tangent piles and soil nailing;Design of directionally drilled pipeline crossings;Assess stability, surface settlements, and structural damage;Prepare Geotechnical Baseline Reports;Evaluate dewatering, grouting, ground freezing, TBM selection, vibrations, seismic aspects, and tunnel rehabilitation;Provide technical support, review calculations, and perform analyses;Assist in project coordination, cost estimates, tender submissions, documentation, reports, scheduling, and budgeting;Scope projects and prepare proposals;Mentor and train staff;Support business development and client relationship management;Participate in fieldwork as needed;Manage projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.Qualifications and AssetsBachelors degree in Civil or Geological Engineering; Masters preferred;Minimum 10 years of relevant experience;Specialized experience in Tunneling and Trenchless Technologies;Experience with local geology and practices in Canada;Class 5 Drivers license;Proficiency in English;Eligible for EGBC membership;Skills in directional drilling, foundation analysis, terrain and slope stability analysis, instrumentation, and monitoring;Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills;Ability to work independently and in teams.This is a mid- to senior-level position with office-based work and occasional field visits, offering career growth opportunities.Salary Range$90,000 - $130,000 per year, based on experience;Salary may be adjusted upward for highly qualified candidates;Less experienced candidates may be considered at a lower wage.What We OfferWe foster an inclusive, collaborative, and respectful work environment.
