What you'll do for CNIB Deafblind Community Services Conducts initial intake and assessment of new learners and designs individual training plans. Responsible for training of placement students. Participates in and supports public awareness activities. Drafts government reports and proposals for funding. Acts as a resource for DBCS staff members and third-party community partners. Maintains contact with the literacy community, especially those that relate to Deafblindness. Updates and maintains accurate electronic learner files and monitors statistical reports to maintain contractual targets. Maintains the ministry client management system (CAMS). Initiates and maintains resources and materials appropriate for learners who are Deafblind, blind, or have low vision. Provides general information with regards to skills development programs. Responsible for recruiting and training learners. Who you are: Knowledgeable about the theories and principles of intervention. Knowledgeable about Deafblindness, Deaf/Deafblind culture, and common associated health-related concerns in all life stages. Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills. Self-motivated and flexible with the ability to multi-task. Able to take initiative, work independently and effectively with minimal supervision. Good working knowledge of OALCF and EOIS-CaMs. We want to hear from you if you have: Diploma in the Human Services or Adult Learning field or equivalent related work. Training or teaching experience in similar environment. Experience working with people with exceptional needs. Ability to adjust instruction strategies to meet the needs of the learner. Skills in alternative communication method would be an asset, including American Sign Language, Two Hand Manual, Fingerspelling and Braille. Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task. Possess a mature and professional demeanor. Excellent computer skills to maintain records, research learner data, and write reports. Comfort using or teaching with assistive technology such as screen readers and magnification tools. Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt to changing situations. Demonstrate strong ethical behaviours and ability in maintaining confidentiality. Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
