Base Pay Range $180,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr Additional Compensation Types Annual Bonus and Commission Overview We are currently seeking a Director, Tax to lead the tax team at a growing accounting firm. As a Director, Tax - you will be responsible for various components of preparation of Canadian federal & provincial income tax compliance in addition to Canadian tax filings and tax planning. The Director, Tax will assist with other tasks such as team management, investigation complex tax issues and finding creative solutions. Responsibilities Evaluate client business processes and policies, advise on tax policy and changes to meet market needs, and develop proactive tax strategies to make business opportunities effective. Apply specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify, and address tax issues relevant to the clients business. Provide both technical and project management leadership to team members for Domestic Tax projects or assignments, and ensure quality control standards are in place. Provide support to client personnel regarding tax entries and reconciliation of tax related general ledger accounts. Identify, as well as develop and implement strategies for clients to capitalize on business and tax opportunities. This includes preparing and reviewing tax reorganizations, and reviewing corporate, trust and estate tax returns. Preparing GAAP and Statutory income tax provisions. Liaise with Canada Revenue Agency and relevant provincial ministries on client issues. Build positive working relationships with clients and provide effective support for engagements. Network in the local business community, consider business development opportunities and contribute to the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals to meet client needs. Mentor, motivate and coach team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing feedback and conducting performance reviews. Engage in training staff and invest in the professional development of your team. Working with the fixed asset system and with the investment department tax reporting. Responsible for complex projects associated with the maintenance of tax records. Adhoc analyses in support of Tax Partners, Assurance Partners, and Assurance Managers. Skills and Experiences Completion of the indepth Tax Program and other specialist development courses 10+ years of relevant public accounting or tax consulting experience Extensive working knowledge of Canadian Tax Strong understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles Proven people management, relationship and leadership skills Strong strategic planning and conceptual thinking skills Highly proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in Excel using pivot tables and vlookups Seniority Level Executive Employment Type Fulltime Job Function Accounting/Auditing and Finance Industries: Accounting and Professional Services #J-18808-Ljbffr
