You can learn more about us by visiting our websites: / / Role Description FOG Software Groupis seeking aBusiness Development Directorto join one of ourMergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deal sourcing teams. The role has a direct and measurable impact on the organization with the opportunity to participate in investment and strategic decisions as part of a lean, high energy, fast paced and entrepreneurial team with a successful track record of sourcing M&A acquisitions. The Business Development Director will be responsible for building and leading a team of professionals dedicated to sourcing, qualifying, nurturing, and managing a robust pipeline of acquisition opportunities for our internal M&A team. Additionally, the Director will be tasked with developing a comprehensive M&A business development strategy and a long-term roadmap for the team, ensuring a consistent flow of high-quality acquisition opportunities. The ideal candidatewill have a proven track record of sourcing successfully closed M&A opportunities and exceeding targets in a fast-paced M&A deal environment. They should also have experience hiring, growing, and managing M&A deal sourcing teams, possess an entrepreneurial spirit, and be an independent thinker with strong management skills, and attention to detail. TheBusiness Development Directorwill also be responsible for building relationships with business owners, CEOs, investment bankers, private equity (PE) and venture capital (VC) funds, and other senior leaders across various industries globally. The goal will be to identify and nurture attractive M&A opportunities that can expand our existing portfolio of software companies. Additionally, the Director will provide support and guidance to their team in achieving these objectives and be responsible for them meeting their capital deployment targets. Experience in M&A, Private Equity, Venture Capital, or Investment Banking is required. Core Responsibilities Establish, maintain, and nurture strong long term relationships with key stakeholders of vertical market software businesses that meet our strategic criteria, including software company owners, shareholders, private equity and venture capital funds, and advisors. Plan, develop, and conduct prospecting campaigns through LinkedIn, email, calling, attendance at trade shows, and in-person meetings. Advance prospective targets through the deal sourcing pipeline. Hire and coach a team of Business Development professionals. Develop an entrepreneurial culture of excellence and individual contributions, in parallel with a collaborative and supportive team environment. Partner with FOG's senior leadership in M&A and Operations to drive the inorganic growth of the portfolio. This is a player-coach role. A typical day will be a combination of research in our proprietary CRM, outbounds to potential prospects, nurturing existing prospects, attending calls with and providing feedback to your BD team, providing updates to senior leadership, planning for / attending in-person events (conferences, trade shows, company visits) Qualifications 5+ years of experience in M&A/VC/PE deal sourcing or execution. Experience in hiring, developing, and growing a business development team High curiosity and drive to connect with business owners, and learn about their business and their stories. Strong communication skills and capable of establishing and building rapport remotely. Strong leadership skills with a passion to lead a team to collectively succeed. Bachelor's degree or equivalent, in Business/Economics or related field. Advanced time management, attention to detail, organizational, strategic thinking, and analytical skills. Adaptable and flexible, with an ability to respond to changing work priorities, pressure and demands. Self-motivated, able to work autonomously and think independently, and open to learning and sharing new ideas. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work in a collaborative manner with the senior management team. Desire to travel to meet with companies / attend trade shows (ad hoc basis).
