Join EY and help build a better working world. The Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Manager to join the Deal Technology (DT) team within EY-Parthenon Canada. This is an exceptional opportunity to build a career at the nexus of technology and private equity investing. The DT team helps private equity clients evaluate investment opportunities by identifying key risks and value creation levers in the IT domain. This position supports the expansion of our infrastructure practice. Our teams undertake marketleading infrastructure and technology diligence of companies across sectors, including assessments of onpremise and cloud environments, infrastructure migration strategies, cost optimisation, and operational resilience. This job posting relates to an existing vacancy within our organization. Key Responsibilities Project Execution: Diligence: Infrastructure and Technology Diligence: Lead marketleading infrastructure and technology diligence of companies, providing 'insideout' assessments of onpremise and cloud infrastructure (including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and other major platforms), architecture, technical debt, hosting models, IT operations, and migration processes. Enable investors to understand a companys IT capabilities, scalability, and ability to execute against its corporate strategy, while identifying risks and opportunities. Integrated Diligence: Collaborate with EYParthenon teams to combine infrastructure diligence with financial and operational due diligence, providing clients with a cohesive view of their target investment and a clear view on value creation priorities. Strategy: Infrastructure Optimisation: Assess a companys IT organisation for capacity, talent, and process, and provide actionable recommendations to improve productivity, reliability, cost efficiency, and alignment with business strategy. Conduct site visits, interviews, data reviews, handson evaluation, primary research, and benchmarking. Cloud and Migration Strategy: Evaluate clients infrastructure roadmaps and migration alternatives, assessing cost, risk, and alignment with strategic objectives. Advise on cloud adoption (AWS, Azure, hybrid models), replatforming initiatives, and major transformation efforts such as largescale migrations or postmerger integrations. Costing and Optimisation: Analyse infrastructure spend, identify costsaving opportunities, and recommend optimisation strategies for both onpremise and cloud environments. Support clients in building robust business cases for IT investments and migrations. PostMerger Integration: Lead postmerger consolidation or rationalisation of IT portfolios, leveraging deep technical and market knowledge to drive synergies and operational excellence. Conduct indepth interviews with key organisational stakeholders, industry experts and customers. Analyse business plans and proforma financial models to help identify key assumptions and drivers. Contribute to people initiatives; mentoring, coaching, recruiting, retaining and training staff. Ensure quality of delivery: Mentor junior team members, providing guidance on project execution and ensuring a high quality of delivery. Stay updated about the latest developments in technology and constantly update the due diligence process accordingly. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with partners, case teams, and client teams on daytoday project activities with a high degree of ownership. Build and maintain strong relationships with regional case teams and clients throughout the project lifecycle. Mentor junior team members, providing guidance on project execution and ensuring high quality of delivery. Present findings to stakeholders and facilitate brainstorming on evolving deal hypotheses. Quality and Innovation: Stay updated on the latest developments in IT infrastructure, cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), and migration best practices, continuously improving the diligence process. Skills and Attributes for Success Deep understanding of IT infrastructure (onpremise and cloud, including AWS and Azure), migration methodologies, and best practices. Capability to evaluate the full infrastructure lifecycle, from design and deployment to maintenance and optimisation. Strong technical knowledge to assess architecture, technology stack, hosting models, and operational processes. Experience in infrastructure migration, cost modelling, and optimisation initiatives. Familiarity with mainframes and midrange servers is a plus. Ability to analyse complex technology environments and align them with business objectives. Wellrounded understanding of various technologies, platforms, and applications (IT service delivery, operating model, cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics, etc.). Lead discussions to develop hypotheses, insights, and key findings critical to the engagement. Ability to clearly convey technical information to nontechnical individuals, write clear reports, and make compelling presentations. Structured thought process and proficiency in the English language, with effective communication skills in writing and verbally. Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills. Desirable Knowledge and Experience Bachelors degree (or equivalent) with outstanding academic performance. Computer science, information systems, or related field is a plus. Minimum 8 years of experience in the IT domain, with prior experience as a team lead or senior engineer within an IT organisation, especially in infrastructure management, cloud engineering (AWS, Azure), or IT operations. Experience with mainframes and midrange servers highly desirable. Experience in PE / M&A transactions, ideally performing IT infrastructure due diligence and/or strategic value creation assignments. Demonstrable experience/knowledge of structured methodologies and industry standards for infrastructure management, cloud migration, cost optimisation, and IT operations. Ability to make detailed assessments of industry, products, markets, competitors, and customers to identify risks and opportunities. Ability to assess complex technology environments and analyse them in the context of business objectives. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and skill sets.
