Responsibilities Accurately prepare and book monthly journal entries, including cash, clearing, prepaids, accruals, fixed assets, and lease accounting. Prepare various balance sheet account reconciliations, investigate and correct reconciling items. Assist Accounting Manager to review account reconciliations submitted by various departments for accuracy. Support Accounting Manager in backup capacity role with required daily activities for vacation/leave coverage and provide support with oversight of Accounting Analysts as requested. Utilize analytical review techniques when reviewing journal entries, account activity, and account reconciliations, and overall month-end results compared to budget to ensure accurate reporting. Liaise with Treasury and Financial Performance to ensure daytoday transactions are recorded accurately and timely. Prepare bank account entries that are accurate and up to date. Methodically review accounts payable entries to ensure accuracy of reporting. Provide insight into process inefficiencies and recommend process improvement strategies. Prepare various monthly financial reports and adhoc reports that support business decisions. Support new projects that add value to the organization. Build and utilize working relationships with internal business partners across the organization. Consider health & safety as a primary concern to ensure the safety of self and others. Perform other duties as required. Required Skills Postsecondary degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or business and CPA (CMA or CGA). Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in finance or accounting; experience in a financial institution is an asset. Experience with fullcycle accounting. Expert in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office products. Comfortable using General Ledger software, e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. High level of integrity and trustworthy. Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Be quick to respond to requests for service from all of your clients. Be aware of and mitigate enterprise risk factors and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, legislation FirstOntario policies and procedures. Location & Salary Stoney Creek, ON hybrid role on a fixed term basis for up to 18 months. Salary Range: $59,078 to $81,233 annually.
