Sr. Exploration Geologist - FIFO from Western Canada Summary The Sr. Exploration Geologist position is an opportunity to take on a key role within a tightknot team tasked with the exploration of the historical Keno Hill Silver District. Reporting directly to the Exploration Manager, you will help oversee all aspects of site exploration, including the management of staff, contractors and consultants, effective tracking and communication of progress and results, and the training and mentorship of junior staff to ensure the safe completion of Heclas objectives. About Us The Keno Hill mine is located within the Keno Hill Silver District in Canadas Yukon Territory. It is one of the highestgrade silver districts in the world, situated 350 kilometres north of Whitehorse, and lies within the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na-ChoNyakDun. The mine comprises 242km with numerous mineral deposits and more than 35 historical pastproducing mine sites. Keno Hill is expected to produce 2.73.1million ounces of silver in 2025 as the mine ramps up production. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur dAlene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer. What You Can Expect In This Role Responsibilities include: Ensuring exploration team members work safely and comply with requirements to prevent incidents and injuries, including hazard identification and reporting. Communicating effectively with management and stakeholders, maintaining formal quarterly progress reports, attending weekly update meetings, and ensuring that safety, environmental and other project issues are communicated quickly and clearly. Working with the Exploration Manager and Senior Geologists to schedule and allocate departmental workload, ensuring efficient workflows and timely completion of exploration goals. Assisting with contractor management to maximise drilling efficiency, recovery, and compliance with Heclas site safety and environmental requirements and permit/regulatory commitments. Providing leadership, mentoring and training to personnel to safely and efficiently achieve all project objectives. Reviewing existing geological data and interpretations, developing a comprehensive knowledge of the property geology and exploration history, and assisting in target generation and propertywide prospect evaluation and ranking. Working with a wide array of consultants to advance geological research studies and initiatives, coordinating the collection, compilation, management, and interpretation of geological information from field geology programs including mapping, prospecting, geophysics, and drilling. Collaborating with the wider Yukon exploration team and resource geology team from initial mineral potential assessment to resource generation and expansion, including QA/QC implementation and reporting. Assisting with annual budgeting tasks, tracking expenditure and progress to ensure programs are completed on time and within budget. Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications Bachelors degree in geology; a postgraduate degree desirable. Minimum of 5 years of relevant exploration drilling experience. Experience supervising geological field and drilling campaigns and managing staff and contractors. Proficiency in 3D software (preferably Leapfrog or Mineplan), GIS and Microsoft Office. Experience developing geological models with targeting and exploration; strong understanding of geological settings, oreforming processes, geochemistry and structural geology. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Experience developing budgets, tracking and reporting expenditures. Selfmotivated, organized, possessing leadership abilities. Work Environment Employees will be regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including snow and ice, and extreme temperatures ranging from cold to heat. The work environment may involve contact with potentially hazardous wildlife, moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, use of explosives, risk of electrical shock, vibration, and occasionally loud noise levels depending on the task or location on site. Work Location & Schedule This is a flyin flyout position based at a remote mining camp, operating on a rotational schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off with some flexibility required. Camp accommodations and meals are provided while on site. All travel to and from the mine site is arranged through a designated travel agency and coordinated from approved flight hubs. Candidates residing in the Yukon, British Columbia, and Alberta, particularly near major transportation centers, are preferred.
