What You''ll Do: As our Commercial Estimator, you''ll be the financial architect of our projects, responsible for the following key areas: Cost Analysis & Estimation: Prepare comprehensive estimates for commercial construction projects. This includes accurately calculating probable costs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracts based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and detailed specifications. Tendering & Bidding: Advise on effective tendering procedures, meticulously examine and analyze incoming bids, recommend tender awards, and lead contract negotiations to secure the best value. Process Optimization: Establish, maintain, and continuously improve our tendering processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Cost Control & Reporting: Develop and implement robust cost monitoring and reporting systems. You''ll prepare regular cost and expenditure statements and forecasts throughout the project lifecycle to keep stakeholders informed. Resource Management: Maintain and expand our comprehensive directory of trusted suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring we always have access to reliable partners. Collaboration & Communication: Act as a key liaison, consulting and communicating effectively with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders. You''ll also prepare economic feasibility studies for proposed changes or adjustments to cost estimates. Project Coordination (as needed): Depending on project scope, you may assist in managing and coordinating aspects of construction projects and preparing detailed construction progress schedules. What You Bring: To excel in this role, you should possess: Proven Estimating Experience: Demonstrated experience as a Commercial Estimator within the construction industry. Technical Acumen: Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and project specifications with precision. Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy in cost calculation. Negotiation Prowess: Solid negotiation skills for effective tender awards and contract discussions. Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with diverse stakeholders. Software Proficiency: Experience with estimating software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). Organizational Skills: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to identifying potential cost impacts and developing solutions.
