Please note that this is a volunteer position The University of the Fraser Valley Student Union Society (SUS) is a BC Not-For-Profit Society representing and serving UFV students. The Society manages the Student Union Building and facilitates services such as the UFV U-Pass, food services, and the student health and dental plan. SUS also supports an active community by organizing events and providing wellness and developmental programming. As the official representative body of UFV students, our mission is to be an inclusive community that provides high-quality, accessible programs and services. We are the unified voice advocating on behalf of student interests in the UFV community, ensuring each student has opportunities to thrive. Dates and Schedule: 4 hours on a date of your choice to gain your Food Safe Level 1 Certificate Tuesday, October 21st from 8:00am to 12:00pm Tuesday, November 4th from 8:00am to 12:00pm Tuesday, November 18th from 8:00am to 12:00pm Tuesday, December 2nd from 8:00am to 12:00pm Location: Evered Hall, Building S, UFV Abbotsford Campus Compensation: This is a volunteer role. However, as a thank you for your time, you''ll receive Food Safe Level 1 Certification (free of charge) and enjoy a hot breakfast buffet after your shift. Position Overview: Are you looking for a way to get involved on campus, meet new people, and gain valuable experience? The Student Union Society (SUS) is recruiting enthusiastic volunteers to support our Early Eats program, a hot buffet initiative aimed at fueling students'' minds with nutritious food and reducing food insecurity on campus. As a volunteer, you''ll work alongside a Red Seal-certified Chef and trained food service staff in our brand-new commercial kitchen. Your responsibilities will include setting up, cleaning up, managing supplies, serving students, and maintaining a smooth operation of the breakfast buffet. This is a great opportunity to enhance your leadership skills, meet new friends, and make a meaningful impactall while having a lot of fun Perks: Connect with other students and SUS staff Build your interpersonal and leadership skills Receive Food Safe Level 1 Certification Enjoy a free hot breakfast after your shift Key Responsibilities: Set-Up:Help prepare the breakfast area by setting up tables, food stations, and supplies (ability to lift up to 25lbs is required). Clean-Up:Assist with cleaning during and after the event, assist our Red Seal Chef in cleaning dishes when requested and ensuring the space is tidy. Supply Management:Monitor inventory of items like condiments, cutlery, and take-out containers. Line Control:Manage student queues, welcome attendees, and ensure an orderly flow using a click counter. Communication:Coordinate with staff to manage appropriate levels of food and ensure smooth service. Support Inclusivity: Promote a welcoming environment in line with SUS values of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Qualifications: Enthusiastic and energetic personality with a desire to engage with fellow students Must be a current UFV student enrolled in at least one Fall 2025 course Commitment to SUS''s values of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) Organized, reliable, and available on all Early Eats dates (October 21, November 4, November 18 & December 2) Term of Employment: This is a Fall 2025 position, with opportunity to continue into Winter 2026.
