Job Description

Gitxsan Safety Services (GSS), an award-winning, COR certified provider of security, emergency medical and traffic control services. We are a proudly First Nations business, providing training to direct employment opportunities, offering high quality safety services to numerous private and public sector businesses throughout western Canada. Wages: starting at $20/hour; following BC Employment Standards Act all overtime is paid at time and half or double time in accordance with the Act. Hours of work: usually 12 hours per day, contracts vary and days within deployments may have variability. Deployments are up to 21 days and can be extended if there are standby days and the employee agrees. In general the Security Guard responsibility is to observe, report, and deter. Observe and report suspicious activity Document within SiteDocs Respond to incident/emergency situations and follow protocol Provide perimeter security coverage Secure all exits, doors, and windows Patrolling of designated areas, equipment, etc. Accept and track radio check ins Respond to alarms Provide a visual security presence - deterring unauthorized persons Provide escorts to vehicles & accommodations when needed. Coordinating and liaising with the police or emergency personnel when required Complete documentation, reporting, forms on SiteDocs daily. Follow Gitxsan Safety Services Policies and Procedure What would you bring: Valid Driver''s Licence and clean Drivers'' Abstract Physically able to conduct standing/walking or driving patrols for extended periods of time Able to pass drug & alcohol testing Leadership/Supervisory experience a valuable asset Successful completion of online training where required by project Strong verbal and written communications skills OFA1 is a valuable asset Proficient with technology (i.e. smart phone, IPad or Tablet) Assertive, strong judgment, calm demeanour Previous security experience is an asset
