Directly reporting to the Regional Facility Manager (RFM), the position will be responsible for all operations including maintenance, billing/revenue collection, updates and improvements for the Water/Wastewater system in the community of Rankin Inlet. The position will also be responsible for all Minor and Capital projects with the Rankin Inlet Water/Wastewater Systems plus six (6) other Kivalliq Region Water Treatment Plants and works through all stages of project planning, budgeting, implementation, completion and warranty follow-up. As the leader of a team of water/wastewater technical experts, the position works to maximize the quality of facilities and the built works environment by managing the resources dedicated to maintaining the supporting systems and minimizing service interruptions with consideration for life safety, work priority, resource limitations and total life cycle cost. Through the course of planning and executing the work, the position emphasizes safety, team effectiveness, client satisfaction and quality.The position facilitates the training and development of team members within the work unit. Qualifications The combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities normally acquired through the completion of a diploma in Water Resources Engineering Technology, Water/Wastewater Technologist, Water Quality and Environmental Engineering Technology or related field from a recognized post-secondary institution is preferred, along with 5 years of related work experience. Skills as a Professional environmental operator and water treatment/distribution and wastewater collection/treatment Level II certification from a recognized provincial or territorial accreditation body are also assets. Equivalencies consisting of an acceptable combination of education, training and experience may be considered. A Class 5 driver''s license is mandatory for this position. The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut''s official languages would be considered an asset.Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture,land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets. Acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered for this position.
