Job Summary: Ascent Employment is looking for a motivated and hardworking Construction Helper with roofing experience to join our team in Calgary, AB. The ideal candidate will assist skilled tradespeople in various construction tasks, with a primary focus on roofing projects. This role requires hands-on experience in roofing, the ability to work at heights, and a strong commitment to safety. Key Responsibilities: Roofing Assistance: Support roofers in installing, repairing, and replacing roofs, including shingling, tarping, and waterproofing Material Handling: Load and unload roofing materials, tools, and equipment from trucks and distribute them to appropriate work areas Site Preparation: Prepare construction sites by setting up ladders, scaffolding, and safety barriers, and ensuring that all necessary tools and materials are ready for use Clean-Up: Assist in maintaining a clean and organized worksite, including the removal of debris and unused materials Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and fall protection systems Basic Construction Tasks: Perform general construction tasks such as measuring, cutting, and fitting materials, under the supervision of experienced tradespeople Team Collaboration: Work closely with the roofing team to ensure projects are completed on time and meet quality standards Qualifications: Previous experience in roofing is required Basic knowledge of roofing materials, tools, and techniques Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety Valid drivers license is preferred Working Conditions: Full-time position with a typical workweek of 40 hours Work is performed outdoors, often at heights, in varying weather conditions Potential for overtime during peak construction seasons Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on experience Opportunities for advancement within the company Benefits package including health insurance, paid time off, and potential bonuses
