Vancouver Talmud Torah is currently seeking a Full-time (1.0 FTE) Teacher on Call for the school year Vancouver Talmud Torah is an Early Childhood to Grade 7 Jewish community day school fostering Jewish identity and literacy with a strong emphasis on producing students who will engage the world through Jewish values. Rigour, excellence, innovation and creativity are integral to the learning experience at VTT. Our school serves families from a diverse range of Jewish backgrounds and religious practices. We are Western Canada''s largest Jewish community day school and have more than 100 years of experience This individual will provide daily instructional support by filling in for classroom teachers who are absent due to illness, professional development, or other reasons. The Teacher on Call is a key contributor to maintaining continuity of learning and fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging educational environment for all students. Key Responsibilities Provide effective classroom instruction using provided lesson plans or develop appropriate materials when necessary. Manage classroom behavior to ensure a respectful, productive, and safe learning atmosphere. Adapt to a variety of grade levels and subject areas across elementary and/or secondary school. Communicate effectively with school administration, support staff, and teachers to ensure consistent learning experiences. Maintain accurate records of student attendance and any incidents during the school day. Supervise students in various settings including classrooms, recess, assemblies, and field trips, if required. Support the school''s policies, procedures, and mission, acting as a positive representative of the school community. Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities as appropriate. Qualifications Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree or equivalent. Valid B.C. Teaching Certificate (e.g., BC Certificate of Qualification from the Teacher Regulation Branch). Minimum 1 year of teaching experience preferred, including substitute teaching or TOC work. Ability to teach multiple grade levels and subject areas, including core academics and specialty subjects. Strong classroom management and student engagement skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity in education. Assets Familiarity with B.C. curriculum. French or Hebrew language proficiency (if applicable). Special Education, ELL, or Learning Support experience. Benefits Eligibility for health benefits after passing 3 month probationary period.
