Job Description

Term Part-Time Position FTE) October 17, 2025 to April 03, 2026 This position is at the L09 level with an hourly pay range of $ $60.93 (PIPSC Bargaining Unit) Occupational Therapists work within an interdisciplinary team, to assess and plan rehabilitation and discharge planning needs for a wide variety of patient populations. The OT is responsible for the provision of service and/or expertise to the clients and staff of the Yukon Hospital Corporation''s facilities. The OT provides occupational therapy assessment and treatment to clients with a broad range of physical and mental health conditions; promotes client independence and self-esteem; supervises and directs Therapy Assistants; supervises OT students; offers consulting services to clients, family members and the health care community in general; trains and supports YHC Staff in all facilities. Knowledge, skills and abilities required: Knowledge of occupational therapy philosophy and principles; Knowledge of the rehabilitation process; Knowledge of medical laboratory terminology; Strong working knowledge of adapted or special equipment; Ability to supervise and train support staff; Ability to work independently, as well as within an interdisciplinary team; Ability to instruct in-services and teach individual training programs; Ability to promote client independence and self-esteem; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Strong assessment and treatment skills in the physical, social, cognitive and psychological function of individuals; Effective interpersonal skills; Excellent problem solving skills; Excellent organizational skills; Cross-cultural awareness. The successful candidate is required to have a Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in Occupational Therapy, be eligible for individual membership with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists, have a valid Class 5 driver''s license and a valid CPR Level C certification. Knowledge of program development, research, and evaluation; knowledge of general acute care principles and hospital procedures; knowledge of acute occupational therapy treatments (e.g. burns, CVA, dysphagia); knowledge of splinting techniques and principles; and two years related clinical experience are desired for this position.
