Description Position #: Expected Start Date: To Be Determined; Posted Until Filled Union: HSAS Facility: Rosetown Health Centre City/Town: Rosetown Department: Ambulance - Land Type: Part-time regular FTE: 0.75 Shift Information: Days, Evenings, Weekends, Standby Hours of Work: 21 shifts of 8 hours per 6 weeks Relief: No Float: No Field Hours: No Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Emergency Medical Technician $29.909 to $36.572 Travel Required: No Job Description: Reporting to the Manager or designate for the area of province they are working, the Emergency Medical Services - EMT/PCP responds to emergency and non-emergency events, and provides assessment, treatment and transportation of the ill or injured persons consistent with The Saskatchewan Ambulance Act and Regulations; Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) Clinical Practice Protocols; The Paramedics Act and bylaws; and Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) policies, procedures and work standards. Human Resources Exemption: No Education Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute Licenses Valid Class 4 driver''s license Other Education and Training International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS) Current CPR certification Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS) Competencies Listening skills Basic - Interpersonal skills Verbal communication skills Written Communication Skills Knowledge and Abilities Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions Ability to work independently and as a member of a team Able to safely and consistently lift/load stretcher on a regular basis Ability to exhibit situational awareness Ability to function effectively in periods of high stress/emergent situations Ability to operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively Ability to be resilient Familiar with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System. Knowledge of EMS Practitioners legislation/protocols/scope of practice Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel/Outlook) Conflict resolution skills to effectively handle difficult issues Other Information Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at PCP/EMT level Scheduled hours of work may be reduced during the rotation stipulated when a statutory holiday is recognized during that period.
