Overview In this position, you will be responsible for specification preparation, design production, liaising with clients, contractors, and manufacturers, and technical review. You must be able to manage multiple projects involving various scopes. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Design Work will include: Assemble, compile, and maintain electronic and hardcopy project files Interpret and analyze data gathered from fieldwork, design sketches, construction drawings, site photos, and bowser tools like Maps, Streetview, & Google Earth Draw or hand sketch design solutions for Spec & Bid projects utilizing new roof system predesign and related criteria to suit construction and configuration of project buildings Review, mark-up, and correct design solutions prepared by others Oversee and manage two or three person design team to complete assigned projects Assist with management of Roofing Design department and project load Prepare roofing specifications in IRC format guidelines and perform contract administration of roof projects including: preparing (3 part) technical specifications for (Division 7), tender documents, addenda''s, contract documents, change orders, work order revisions, close out documents Office Work will include: Printing, Photocopying, assembling, and binding of Contract Documents for Bidding Emailing or faxing project related correspondence to clients, suppliers, & contractors Researching and investigating products to meet special project requirements Liaising with clients, product manufacturers or suppliers for technical assistance as required Responding to queries from contractors during bidding phase of project Assisting with preparation and distribution of project Addendum and Change Orders Clerical filing and maintenance of project binders, electronic files, and other records Site Work may include: Travel to and from project or client location; located in Southwest Ontario Assist in retrieval of site fieldwork data for roofs and other building envelope components including field measurements, photography, sketching, surveying projections, identifying anomalies and deficiencies, etc. Design or project meetings with clients, architects, and/or other consultants Required Experience, Education and Certifications Completion of a degree or diploma in engineering or engineering technology. Possession of Professional Engineering stamps in Ontario and other provinces is considered an asset. Candidate expectation is at minimum to be eligible for PEO Licensure, or ability to obtain in near future (working towards). Minimum of 5+ years of project management experience at an engineering consulting firm. Valid driver''s license and reliable transportation are required. Required Skills and Abilities Proficiency in design and analysis tools (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit or similar software) and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; technical writing skills are required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal). Exceptional attention to detail, specifically in accuracy of calculations and completeness of data collection and notation. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities. Self-motivating and able to multi-task. Ability to act with business integrity and professionalism. Physical Demands, Overtime, and Travel Requirements Physical Demands Work is performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e. industrial, construction and/or residential sites). The employee is frequently required to stand, walk on sloped and flat roofs, sit, climb ladders, bend, climb inside attics, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to client sites or job sites. Working at heights, including accessing buildings by ladders, swing stages, and mechanical lifts may be necessary depending on assigned discipline. The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary. The employee must be sharp, focused, and alert when conducting inspections, speaking, and interacting with clients, preparing drawings and written reports. Overtime There will be some occasions where overtime (or working after normal business hours) will be required to meet the demands of the position. Travel This position requires up to 25% local area travel. Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
