Role Description: The Manager, Canadian Research will support the execution of ALS Canada''s Research Program during a maternity leave period. Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer, the Manager, Canadian Research will oversee key components of the Canadian ALS Research Network (CALS), research community engagement, select grant program functions, and the national research meetings. This role ensures continuity of key programs, stakeholder engagement, and research community support, and contributes to a highly collaborative and mission-driven research team. You bring robust project management abilities, effective communication skills, and demonstrated expertise in building relationships, acquired through work in research environments or health related organizations. This is the right opportunity for you. What you will do: CALS Network Coordination Manage monthly and quarterly CALS meetings, including agenda preparation, coordination, and follow-up. Support CALS governance, membership, and clinic engagement initiatives. Represent ALS Canada in interactions with industry and external stakeholders as assigned. Canadian Research Community Engagement Lead researcher engagement initiatives, including newsletters, community sessions, lab visits, and surveys. Conduct check-ins with funded trainees and guide the development of national programs, such as a Trainee Exchange Program and a public database of Canadian ALS researchers. Granting Programs Support Assist with grant-related activities, including administrative aspects, panel communications, awardee recognition, and exploration of grant management tools. National Research Meetings and Events Support planning and logistics for the national research meetings. Prepare materials and represent the Research team at meetings as needed. Operations and Knowledge Translation Contribute to research communications and content development as needed. Support general operational tasks for the Research team. Miscellaneous Serve as an ambassador for the organization and attend events as required. Other duties as required. What we are looking for: Bachelor''s degree in science. Minimum 5 years of work experience in research coordination, project management, health research administration, or a related field. Knowledge of ALS an asset, including current research and developments in the field. Exceptional organizational, verbal, and written communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated excellence in relationship building, working as part of a team, problem-solving, advocacy skills and time management. Strong presentation and public speaking skills. Ability to adapt to dynamic environments, prioritize effectively, and seize new opportunities. Knowledge and application of virtual meeting software, Microsoft Teams, Office 365 and web-based tools for project management, time tracking, etc. Availability to work evenings and weekends and travel nationally or internationally as required. Experience in non-profit, health charity, or working with terminal illness populations preferred. Valid driver''s license is an asset.
