Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician with experience in home maintenance and proven handyman capabilities. This is a hands-on, autonomous role with no supervisory responsibilities. The successful candidate will independently manage all maintenance operations for a portfolio of residential buildings, ensuring properties remain in excellent condition through proactive upkeep, rapid response to issues, and cost- effective solutions. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive building inspections and create prioritized maintenance schedules for common areas, exteriors, roofs, mechanical systems, and landscaping in residences. Execute skilled repairs and preventative maintenance across multiple trades, including plumbing (leaks, drainage, fixture replacement), carpentry, painting, drywall, tiling, and appliance servicing. Respond promptly to reported issues, diagnosing problems on-site and completing fixes without external contractor involvement where feasible. Coordinate with vendors for specialized work beyond handyman scope (e.g., major plumbing electrical issues, HVAC overhauls or structural engineering). Maintain accurate digital records of all work completed, parts used, and warranty tracking via property management software. Source materials cost-effectively while adhering to strata budgets and bylaws. Ensure compliance with WorkSafe BC regulations, strata insurance requirements, and local building codes during all hands-on work. Confirm seasonal preparations (winterization, gutter cleaning, irrigation startup/shutdown) and emergency response (storm damage, floods, lockouts). Required Qualifications Advanced handyman proficiency across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repairs (trade tickets an asset but not required). Valid BC driver''s license and reliable vehicle (mileage reimbursed). Current OFA Level 1 or willingness to obtain. Clean criminal record check. Preferred (Not Required) Experience supporting residents with disabilities (e.g., accessibility modifications, adaptive equipment installation, or patient interaction in care settings). Experience working with strata council. Essential Skills Self-directed with exceptional time managementno oversight provided. Excellent communication skills. Strong diagnostic ability to troubleshoot building systems independently. Professional, empathetic communication with strata councils, owners, and tenantsespecially when assisting vulnerable residents. Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs. Proficiency with tools, and basic diagnostic devices.
