Job Description Ice Cream Manufacturing Maintenance Technician (Full-Time) Join Our Team and Be Part of Something Sweet Prairie West Ice Cream is a Manitoba family-owned and operated business dedicated to producing high-quality ice cream products. Our plant is currently CFIA, BRC, and Peanut-Free certified. Our plant produces several brands of ice cream in a variety of container sizes and is increasing our portfolio each year with new products and clients. Duties & Responsibilities: Conduct general maintenance on ice cream manufacturing equipment, including conveyors, freezers, fillers, pumps, and valves. Perform general building and warehouse maintenance, including racking repairs, forklift and pallet jack upkeep, and servicing air cylinders. Conduct regular inspections of machinery and equipment to identify any potential issues. Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to the maintenance schedule to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal function and food safety. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues production equipment and building systems; educated in tag out lock out procedures for safety. Repair and replace defective parts or components using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment. Ensure proper clean up and sanitation is performed or assigned after maintenance completed. Calibrate machinery and equipment to maintain accuracy efficiency, and consistency in production processes. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and preventive maintenance tasks; fulfilling proper documentation of completed tasks by paper based and computer-based recording. Collaborate with production staff to understand equipment needs and prioritize maintenance tasks accordingly. Coordinate repairs and maintenance with third-party services as required Assist in installing, testing, and commissioning new machinery and equipment. Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure all job-related operations are in compliance with GMPs, food safety, and health and safety requirements. Other tasks as assigned. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Proven experience as a maintenance worker or in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair machinery and equipment. Knowledge of electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, and components. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail. Effective communication skills to collaborate with colleagues and report maintenance issues. Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written English. Ability to work independently with strong self-motivation to maintain, follow, and update maintenance schedules. Sense of urgency and strong prioritization skills. Willingness to work flexible hours (days/evenings) and overtime as needed, as maintenance is often performed when machines are not in use (approximately 7080% of work occurs during daytime hours).
