About the Position The Production Manager is responsible for the overall management of the branch and personnel for the ALS sample preparation. You will use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality, and adhere to safe laboratory practices by working in accordance with the ALS Health and Safety Program. Specific Responsibilities: Operational Productivity levels; Ensure accurate and timely data entry and work order write-up; Coordinate the logistics of sample pickup; Ensure sample storage and sample shipping is effectively managed; Ensure all quality control procedures are being followed; Perform monthly production and safety meeting; Coordinate equipment repairs and maintenance as well maintain the equipment logs; Communicate and enforce ALS Group safety, health and environment policies; Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Personnel In conjunction with our Human Resources team you will be involved in employee interviews, recruiting and training staff as required; Schedules shifts and manages time keeping for staff; Prepares and delivers performance reviews, actively manages staff including addressing performance issues as per ALS Group policies; Maintains employee files; Communicates and enforces ALS Group employment policies and procedures; Communicates and enforces ALS Group safety, health and environment policies. Quality Assurance Responsible for resolving quality issues; Maintains all quality documentation and records; Ensures all routine quality checks are performed and reported; Responsible for resolving quality issues in conjunction with the QA Department; Participates in and follows-up on quality audits. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Proven ability to improve efficiencies and meet production schedules; Ability to lead and motivate a team; Understanding of Health & Safety Standards; Understanding of production SOP''s; Strong customer service focus, interpersonal and organizational abilities; Demonstrated judgment, integrity and ability to problem solve; Ability to effectively handle escalations and time critical issues; Ability to effectively manage change in a dynamic working environment; Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines; Strong quality service attitude and approach; Sound decision making and problem solving skills; Projects enthusiasm and motivation; Results focused. Required Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of Management and/or Supervisory experience in a production or manufacturing type facility; Post-Secondary Education (Diploma or Degree in Geological or Chemical Sciences preferred); Previous experience in the Mining industry, mineral analysis, geology industries preferred; Excellent computer skills including MS Word, MS Excel; Previous experience in a laboratory or geological preparation facility an asset; Excellent French communication skills, both written and oral; Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral. Physical Demands: This position requires mobility to climb, lift, pull, drive, sit and/or stand for up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to regularly life up to 30 lbs.
