Duties & Responsibilities Dietary Aides will be placed in a Long-Term Care Home or hospital setting. The specific responsibilities and duties vary slightly between locations, as well as from shift to shift. These expectations will be communicated during the site-specific orientation. Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Organize and adjust tables for dining areas, paying special attention to cleanliness and ease of use. Assist team members with preparing and cooking meals for the facility. Deliver meals and food trays to residents at predetermined times. Remove plates and serve ware upon the completion of a resident finishing their meal. Discard trash and remove waste after scheduled dining hall times. Maintain clean and orderly food stations for buffets and special events. Monitor pantry stock and inform management of items running low and in need of re-ordering. Assist kitchen manager in creating menus within the budget and requirements of residents. Required Skills Skilled in preparing food for a large group of people as instructed by kitchen management. Experience cooking various meals and following recipes. Basic understanding of kitchen cookware and appliances. Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including; extended standing, walking, and lifting using proper technique. Excellent attendance and punctuality. Hardworking, compassionate, positive, solution-oriented, and professional. Ability to adapt to change and remain flexible. Strong communication skills. Ability to work well independently and in a team environment. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (required). Completion of Food Handlers Safety Awareness Certification (required). Must be at least 18 years of age. Experience working for Food Services in a Long-Term Care Home or hospital setting considered an asset. Satisfactory Criminal Record Check including the Vulnerable Sector Search. Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination (preferred). Must have access to reliable transportation.
