At Happy Explorers Learning Academy, our focus is on adventures in learning in helping children see the exciting possibilities in the world around them as they grow and experience life. We opened in 2019 as a family-owned licensed childcare facility and offer 88 full-time spaces for children between the ages of 3 months and 5 years. The curriculum of Happy Explorers draws from the Reggio Emilia approach and is a blend of play-based and child-led learning approaches that promote exploration and discovery that will prepare little explorers for a lifetime of learning. Our goal each and every day within our learning academy is to provide each child with a safe, nurturing environment to discover more about the world around them, grow friendships, and explore the world of learning. We are currently looking for a RECE that shares our philosophy and vision that all children are capable as well as enjoys working within a small team environment. At Happy Explorers, our educators collaborate closely with all team members to provide nurturing care, learning opportunities and education within a classroom setting. Applicants must have excellent organizational, planning, problem-solving, interpersonal, critical thinking skills, work well within a fun, dynamic team environment and have a genuine love for children. It is important that applicants are available for flexible hours from Monday to Friday between 7:00am to 5:30pm. Required Background: Diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized college Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators Working knowledge of the Child Care Early Years Act regulations and How Does Learning Happen? Current Standard First Aid with CPR (C) Current negative Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen (within six months) Current immunization Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism by providing strong customer service, ability to listen and respond appropriately to children and other team members Experience working with children with differing abilities and their families is preferred Duties: As a Registered Early Childhood Educator, you would be responsible for providing a stimulating environment for the children. Duties include, but are not limited to: Planning and implementation of enriched programs in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy; Taking a leadership role in the classroom and providing excellent supervision and interaction with children at all times including in all classroom and playground activities; Meeting emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child in the classroom; Using a variety of teaching techniques including modelling, observing, questioning and demonstrating; Respectfully and courteously communicating with parents to develop a long-lasting, nurturing and positive relationship; Ensuring all actions and activities meet Child Care Early Years Act; Implementing Health and Safety Standards; Observing and documenting children development and learning and integrating outcomes of observations into curriculum development (child-led learning); Integrating concepts of How Does Learning Happen? and the six pedagogical approaches throughout curriculum development and delivery; Working in partnership with classroom team members, director and educators at Happy Explorers to share pertinent information concerning children, their families and classroom operations; Developing and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues; Collaborating with Community Service Providers to support all children including the implementation of programs and activities for children with differing abilities; Participating in ongoing professional growth and development; Performing housekeeping duties, as required; Performing other duties, as assigned.
